Hooked on You: A Dead By Daylight Dating Sim is a fairly tongue-in-cheek game where four of the original Killers in Dead By Daylight can be romanced. There's The Trapper, The Spirit, The Wraith, and The Huntress, with The Trickster popping up occasionally. There are also the Survivors, Dwight, and Claudette, who are there to keep everyone on track and assist the player when possible.

Despite the tropical paradise setting and the lovely art style that turns the Killers from "scary" to "scary hot," a bad end awaits those that fail to make a good impression on their murderous main of choice. But as long as the player keeps a few things in mind, they will steal the hearts of the Killers.

In some dating sims, playing the field and getting a feel for each romantic option is possible before deciding who to pursue. That won't work in Hooked On You, as none of the Killers will have any romantic interest in the player if they don't spend enough time with them.

The only exception to this rule is Trickster who isn't really a romantic option. He does have a secret bonus ending that can be achieved after unlocking all eight of the other Killers' endings.

5 Pick By Personality And Not Just Looks

The first meeting of the Killers and the quiz given at the beginning of the game give a little insight into each of the Killers' personalities, likes, and dislikes.

Once the player chooses one of the Killers' preferred places, they must choose that place again on Day Two to stay on any of the Killers' romantic routes. For those that don't want to romance the Killers, playing the field is a good way to get the Friends Forever Ending.

4 Opposites Do Not Attract

No Killer has a route that's particularly easier or harder than the other. Players are free to romance them in any order they want, what matters is the preference of the player. Each Killer offers a unique gameplay experience as their personalities make them desire different things. It's apparent very early on that Trapper is the meanest of the four and that he delights in cruelty, which also extends to people being cruel to him. Trapper's route is a good place to start for players who want to play the jerk.

Spirit's personality will appeal to the Goths and those who don't like (or want) to be sociable. She's not Trapper level of mean, but she doesn't go out of her way to be nice. Huntress is more approachable in comparison to Spirit and Trapper, and for those who like the idea of having a big family, Huntress is the romantic option to go with. Just be sure not to tease her or show any type of weakness. Wraith is the nicest out of the group but his most defining personality trait is how awkward he is. Players have to be nice to get on his good side, which is good for Dwight and Claudette.

3 Mini-Games

Aside from answering multiple choice questions, gameplay consists of mini-games and a few quizzes. Mini-games are played using a spinning wheel and the objective is to stop the wheel in the right place. Whether it's carving up meat, playing a deadly game of hide and seek, or playing corn hole with skulls, it's important to do well in each mini-game.

Scoring high on the mini-games will earn a lot of approval from all the Killers. The wheel spins faster with each round, making it harder to land in the correct spot. Fans of Dead by Daylight will recognize the mechanics of the mini-game as being the same mechanics used for Generator skill checks.

2 Quizzes

The nature of the quizzes will change depending on who is being romanced. With some quizzes, a few wrong answers won't ruin the player's chances to date the Killer of their choice.

And with others, every answer must be correct or the player will find themselves on the wrong side of one of the Killer's weapons. Many of the quizzes rely on understanding the type of person the player's chosen Killer is, and others rely on being familiar with the main series Dead By Daylight.

1 Don't Take It Too Seriously

All in all, Hooked on You: A Dead By Daylight Dating Simis a funny little dating sim that's like a love letter from the Dead By Daylight devs to the community. The game doesn't take itself seriously, but it has its touching moments here and there that will make the player come to care for their Killer of choice. The game was made in mind for fans of the series, but people who have never played Dead By Daylight before can also enjoy it, though they won't get all the inside jokes and some references made.

Each route takes a little over an hour to complete the first time played and can get repetitive when trying to get the Bad Endings for each of the Killers. One way to make replaying routes easier is to save the game right before the player confesses their love. Use that save file after getting a Good Ending and then reject the Killer's love, breaking their heart and getting their Bad Ending.
