The Trapper, also known as Evan MacMillan, was one of Dead By Daylight's first Killers when the game was originally released in 2016. While the game has seen many changes and familiar faces join its roster of characters over the years, it's only fair that the original mask-wearing madman visits the beach for the game's bizarre dating simulator spinoff.

When he's not concerned with trapping legs, The Trapper is obsessed with his status, self-image, and physique. As one of the more aggressive potential partners in the game, players will need to make choices that appeal to his ego while showing intelligence and a mean streak of their own wherever possible - it'll take a dedicated player to trap the love of the Trapper.

Players are bombarded with questions at the start of the game after interrupting the killers' game of volleyball, but their responses aren't important - for some extra Trapper dialogue, however, players should answer the volleyball questions with the following:

  • About their own attractiveness - "Very."
  • About superpowers - "Super strength."
  • About a dream job - "Nightclub promoter."

Day One

Dead by Daylight: Hooked on You - Trapper shows approval saying "Perfect. You obviously have a modicum of taste and good judgement."

On A Boat

When given the option of going to four different locations, pick the rightmost option to visit the trapper's yacht.

  • When expected to pick an appetizer, say that you can't choose.
  • Show no mercy to Dwight and Claudette - get rid of them.

Players will then choose a killer to talk to - Trapper is the obvious choice, and picking him begins a mini-game where the players complete quick drinking-themed Dead By Daylight skill checks; saving after getting a 'perfect' result is recommended. Doing well at the mini-game isn't required; it would certainly get the Trapper's attention.

Dinnertime!

Soon after the previous mini-game, a similar one will begin - again, perfection isn't required, but Trapper has some interesting things to say to players who complete it flawlessly.

  • When the player is asked why they aren't eating, answer, "I'msorry."
  • After being offered a glimpse at the Trapper's art, play hard-to-get - say no.
  • When he walks away, follow quietly.
  • Admit it, fighting a bear is cool. Magnificent, even.

Players familiar with the Trapper's Dead by Daylight backstory may be surprised by this rendition's ego, but it makes sense - people who enjoy hanging others on meat hooks usually aren't well-adjusted.

At The Fire Pit

Obviously, Trapper will have the greatest story to tell - let him tell the story.

  • When it's concluded, the most logical response is, "now THAT's a story!"

Players then join the Trapper in relaxing by the pool, where they must reveal their interpretation of his campfire story.

  • It seemed to be about how honesty is important.
  • When Dwight and Claudette have a cleaver thrown at them, laugh.

The radio station players land on doesn't matter, so select Trapper to end the night with. He'll reward the player with a bear paw.

Day Two

Secret Hideaway

On the second day, Trapper makes it clear that he's never heard of 'stranger danger' by inviting us to a secluded spot on the island that nobody else knows about. The Huntress - or another killer - may also invite the player to spend the day with them, but players should only have eyes for Evan, so choose him.

  • When warned to stay away from the water, assume it's a trap.
  • Be defiant when told not to go near a cave entrance - Don't tell me what to do!

Somehow, the Trickster is able to find the super-secret cave and tries to steal players away.

  • Killers with knife-throwing powers are lame, so tell him no.
  • When he asks why, it's because you'reloyal to Trapper.

That's enough of Trickster - his knives are inferior to the Huntress' hatchets, anyway. Trapper will then leave for a while.

  • Curiosity killed the cat, but you're not a cat, so snoop around while waiting.
  • When offered a drink, take the obvious answer - hell yeah!

At this point, Dwight and Claudette find the super-secret cave and take players outside, where the Huntress awaits.

  • When she tries to snatch players away, stay steadfast - No, you're remaining loyal to Trapper.
  • The Trapper then wants to know if players want children or not. That's an easy No.
  • When his attempt at art is revealed, there's no time for hypocrisy - be honest, it's terrible.

Dinnertime and Story time!

Well, that top-secret spot didn't really live up to the name. Still, we may as well try to enjoy dinner.

  • When asked about the date, say nothing.
  • Dwight and Claudette deserve no respect - ignore them.

Thankfully, there was no meat-carving mini-game for tonight's feast; players are quickly sent to the fire pit. They can choose to tell a story, and while their decision to - and the type of story they tell - doesn't really matter, Trapper is notably excited by an Adventure story that players backtrack on in favor of an Action story.

  • After players' attempt at a story has concluded, see if the Trapper can do better.
  • That was bizarre.Say nothing.

The Trapper will then take players to the pool to relax.

  • When asked why this spot was chosen, answer that it's another test.
  • The purpose of the test is survival.
  • Players will then get an offer they can't refuse but must answer with maybe, maybe not.
  • After some cryptic responses, simply respond that you understand.

After some dialogue with inferior non-Trapper characters, players will need to eliminate one of the characters. DoNOT choose trapper - anyone else can be chosen, however.

Day Three (True Ending)

Hooked on You: Trapper saying I can't say that I blame you. I'm the best thing that's ever happened to you. To this island. Maybe the world.

Dawn of the Final Day

Day three begins with players getting to give the object of their affection a flower - give it to the Trapper. Obviously.

  • When asked what they desire most from the island, players should answer 'Power.'
  • When given the opportunity to ask Trapper a question, ask what he wants in a partner.

Soon after getting an answer, a mini-game will begin - just like before, players can save before the mini-game starts and can choose to save again after every 'perfect' result - once again, perfection is not required to get the Trapper's best ending.

After the mini-game, players will return to Trapper's not-totally-secret cave.

  • Before entering a dark tunnel, make him promise not to kill you.
  • When prompted to share something, pick true romantic heartbreak. Spicy!
  • When Trapper is done telling players about his father, honesty is important - tell him his father sounds awful.

Here comes the plot twist - the Trapper's father is alive, and players can now talk to him. Blimey!

  • Uh, is he okay?
  • Trapper says that keeping him down here is for his own good - you don't believe him.
  • The questions that the player chooses to ask Mr. Macmillan won't go over well, so feel free to pick any options.

Mr. Macmillan then asks the player some questions - they must answer with what they believe he wants to hear.

  • To the question about letting others stand in their way, answer 'never.'
  • To a question about intentions with his son, answer 'A partner in crime.'
  • When asked if they mean that literally or metaphorically, answer 'Literally.'
  • When asked if they would ever hurt his son, answer 'Yes.'

The dreaded meeting-with-the-parents section is finally over - while waiting for the Trapper to return, players can stay still or look around to find a coin.

What happens next is unspeakable.

  • Simply say Finally! Let's do this!
  • When all is said and done, say yes it was.

The Trapper's True Ending

Once the player leaves the cave, they have one more test to take before claiming his heart: murder.

  • When asked if they're willing to kill, players must answer that it depends on the person.
  • Players will then be asked to kill Mr. Macmillan - they must say no.
  • The answer that Trapper approves of most is players saying they would never kill any MacMillan.

All that's left is the final choice - saying Yes, I love Trapper secures the True Ending.
