Creating the correct team composition is always crucial in a turn-based game like Honkai: Star Rail. Ensuring the characters in the team synergize with each other will make the difference between winning a hard battle or succumbing to the boss’ power. This is why players should know what each character does to determine their compatibility.

Yukong is a buffer character in Honkai: Star Rail, which means she practically fits in teams that need buff for the DPS. For instance, players can try the following Yukong team comp in Honkai: Star Rail.

5 Yukong + Welt + Luocha + Silver Wolf

When Silver Wolf debuted, she immediately became the enabler of a mono-Element team comp. Welt was the only Imaginary character on Honkai: Star Rail’s initial release, but he’s soon joined by Yukong and Luocha.

Players may think that this team is lacking a DPS, but that’s a grave mistake as Welt’s damage-dealing potential shouldn’t be underestimated. Additionally, both Yukong and Luocha also work perfectly fine with an offense build, which means, instead of lacking DPS, this Yukong team comp is an all-rounder that consists of buffer, healer, DPS, debuffer, and a Silver Wolf mono-Element team that’s ready to handle any boss.

4 Yukong + Luocha + Asta + Jing Yuan

Jing Yuan's team is far trickier if his buffer is Yukong as players need to properly time Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord to hit when Yukong’s buff is present. If done correctly, however, the Lightning Lord can deal massive damage, especially if Yukong’s Crit buff is currently active. Players don’t have to worry too much about buffing Jing Yuan’s normal hits as his Lightning Lord is the one that should be buffed.

To help players stack Jing Yuan’s follow-up attack, they can use Asta to increase his SPD, which allows him to move more before the Lightning Lord unleashes its attack. If Asta uses Dance! Dance! Dance! Light Cone, she can also move Jing Yuan’s action forward. On top of the SPD bonus, Asta also increases the team’s ATK via her Talent.

3 Yukong + Welt + Luocha + Sushang

Dan Heng and Sushang both benefit from Slowed enemies. Dan Heng’s Ultimate deals far larger damage to a Slowed enemy, while Sushang increases her SPD when there’s an enemy with a weakness break, which means she can move more often if the enemy has the SPD debuff.

Sushang, however, can really make use of Yukong’s Roaring Bowstrings. The Helm Master’s buff disappears after two turns are used by allies, so Sushang’s extra turn can ensure she’s the one fully benefiting from the buff. For instance, players can do Skill - Ultimate - Skill. This way, both of Sushang’s Skills and Ultimate are all under the effect of Yukong’s large boost.

Just keep in mind that players should really think of their movements to maximize Yukong’s stat bonus. For instance, if Sushang, Welt, and Luocha have their Ultimate ready, players should cast Welt and Luocha’s Ultimate while the ATK buff is active; afterward, they can use Sushang’s ability. Casting Ultimate doesn’t count as a turn, so it’s the best way to utilize Yukong’s limited buff.

2 Yukong + Luocha + Seele + Silver Wolf

Another variation to the Silver Wolf team is a Quantum + Imaginary team. This time, players will use Seele as the main DPS, while Yukong and Luocha retain their roles as a buffer and healer, respectively.

For this team, players should aim to apply Quantum weakness on the boss as neither Yukong nor Luocha is reliable enough to trigger a weakness break. However, that doesn’t mean they’re useless. Yukong in particular has an extra Toughness-reducing effect on her Basic Attack, and her Ultimate is a decent attack that chips away 90 of the enemy’s Toughness. Meanwhile, Luocha’s Ultimate is an AoE hit that takes 60 Toughness from the target. Considering Luocha still does enough healing even on damage build, players should build him this way instead of attempting to maximize his healing.

1 Yukong + Luocha + Sampo + Kafka

Kafka is not yet released when Yukong becomes available, but that doesn’t mean players can’t reserve the Helm Master for the Stellaron Hunter. Unlike all the other team comps where players would want the DPS to move after Yukong, in a DoT team, Yukong should instead move last. DoT damage is dynamic, which means it follows the current character’s stat when the damage occurs. If Yukong moved right before the enemy, then the DoT hit will happen while the team is under Yukong’s ATK buff.

One thing worth noting is that Yukong’s Crit buff may not be as important in a DoT team considering Crit doesn’t affect DoT damage.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
