HoYoverse has officially announced the date and time for the upcoming Special Program for the first update to its newest RPG, Honkai: Star Rail. The release of the Honkai Impact 3rd spinoff saw massive success for the Genshin Impact developer following its debut last month, quickly amassing millions of players and seeing huge numbers throughout its first few weeks. The sci-fi RPG already features several worlds for players to explore with a cast of more than 20 playable characters available from launch. Now, the developer is gearing up for the new game's first major update.The Genshin Impact developer's first Special Program following Honkai: Star Rail's launch will look to follow the trend set by its predecessors in Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd. Each new update to Genshin Impact features its own "Special Program" live broadcast featuring both staff members and voice actors debuting new features and characters. The developer similarly aired a "Boarding Preparation" stream before Star Rail's debut, introducing many of the game's launch characters and locales before its release. Now, Version 1.1 looks to bring even more content to the popular RPG.Honkai: Star Rail officially announced the upcoming Version 1.1 Special Program, revealing the broadcast for later this week. The Special Program for Honkai: Star Rail's first post-launch update is scheduled to air Friday, May 26th at 7:30 AM Eastern Time, the usual timeslot for HoYoverse livestreams. The post also revealed the title for Star Rail's Version 1.1 update, introducing the new patch with "Galactic Roaming" as its name. Much like Genshin Impact's Primogem rewards, the livestream will likely come with Stellar Jade codes peppered throughout the presentation.

While HoYoverse has not fully debuted the upcoming update yet, leaks have teased some of what's to come in Version 1.1. A recent post would reveal the addition of a chat feature to Honkai: Star Rail with Version 1.1, with Star Rail currently lacking an in-game messaging system. Leaked character lineups have also given a taste of what characters may be coming to the new update with Silver Wolf, Luocha, and Yukong teased as new additions. All three characters have featured prominently within the currently released story of Honkai: Star Rail.
The upcoming update to Honkai: Star Rail will look to build on the success the game has already seen throughout both its pre-release campaign and its launch patch. Star Rail would smash records set by Genshin Impact during the weeks leading up to the RPG's release, amassing over 10 million pre-registered users. The game's launch update has done equally well with Seele's gacha banner reportedly matching totals set by some of Genshin Impact's highest grossing banners. The future looks bright for Honkai: Star Rail as it approaches its first new update.
Honkai: Star Rail is available now for PC and mobile devices. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.
