HoYoverse is known for crafting unique stories and settings for its popular games, Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact. Both have massive playerbases invested in their characters and lore, excitedly waiting for their updates to see what will happen and who they will meet next. Likewise, HoYoverse is seemingly creating an elaborate multiverse where Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, and other titles exist in the same universe.

With both Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact dominating the gacha game space, they're far from finished with expanding their respective universes. However, Honkai: Star Rail definitely has a leg up in terms of introducing elaborate settings in the next few years.

Honkai: Star Rail's Cosmos Creates Vast Possibilities

Honkai Star Rail Fans Think Penacony Character Will Join Astral Express

Being one of the newer HoYoverse games at more than a year old, Honkai: Star Rail has introduced three playable worlds: Jarilo-VI, Xianzhou Luofu, and Penacony. It has also teased the other worlds that exist in its universe, including ones that the Astral Express Crew might journey to in a future update. Honkai: Star Rail has already named multiple planets that might open up, but having a vast cosmos means players can experience more explorations without worrying about the story ending so soon.

Honkai: Star Rail's approach is different from Genshin Impact, where its settings are limited to the seven major nations of Teyvat. So far, Genshin Impact has opened five regions, with the Pyro region, Natlan, expected to arrive sometime this year. Many players are also anticipating to explore Snezhnaya and Khaenri'ah in the future. It's unknown how HoYoverse will proceed once Genshin Impact completes all of its nations, but it is possible that the game might reach its eventual conclusion -- unless, of course, the developer decides to introduce more major and minor regions within Teyvat to stretch the story out even more.

Honkai: Star Rail has a lot of room to go above and beyond with its settings, since the members of the Astral Express Crew are dedicated to trailblazing the cosmos to help those in need. Whether these missions involve Stellarons or not, their adventures could advance beyond sealing these anomalies in various planets in the future. Likewise, HoYoverse can continue being creative with Honkai: Star Rail's worlds and characters before it even reaches the endgame.

There's One Condition That Might Cut Honkai: Star Rail's Cosmic Adventure Short

While Honkai: Star Rail doesn't seem to have any setting limitations for now, its story needs to end at some point. It's definitely possible that Honkai: Star Rail's settings are also dependent on the elements and Paths that the Trailblazer will acquire. So far, players are able to switch between three forms, with the latest being an Imaginary-type Harmony Trailblazer.

Just like Genshin Impact's Traveler, Honkai: Star Rail's protagonist is given the unique opportunity to learn multiple skills that will benefit them in their adventures. Although both games have seven elements, Honkai: Star Rail's Paths, which are overseen by the Aeons, could add more variety to the Trailblazer's abilities. Plus, a number of characters are also expected to have alternate versions, like Dan Heng and Imbibitor Lunae, and March 7's rumored 5-star Honkai form.

Still, Honkai: Star Rail has a chance to open up a number of planets, even for minor quests or Simulated Universe adventures. If HoYoverse truly wants to maximize the game's planetary adventure, it doesn't necessarily have to depend on these worlds for the main storyline. Genshin Impact could still follow the same direction, but it might mean expanding Teyvat's map beyond what is already known or creating a whole new country.
