Luocha joins the Honkai: Star Rail roster as one of the most anticipated characters, both an Abundance and Imaginary character. This addition expands the otherwise limited roster of this particular element and path. As an Abundance character, Luocha possesses the advantage of being compatible with various team compositions, particularly when players lack access to other available healers like Bailu. Having a healer character on both sides is highly recommended in challenging end-game content, such as Forgotten Memory, to maximize the amount of stars obtained.
In Luocha's case, he functions primarily as a single-target healer with passive healing abilities. His kit includes the ability to create a field on enemies that grants healing to characters attacking them, as well as providing a smaller percentage of healing to other allies. Moreover, Luocha can serve as a sub-DPS and possesses additional support abilities, such as dispelling debuffs from allies and buffs from enemies, making him a highly versatile character with utility. When composing a team, players should prioritize the needs of the team's main DPS over Luocha's role, considering the specific content they are tackling. However, Luocha can greatly benefit from Harmony characters who provide an ATK buff, as it enhances both his healing and damage capabilities. Here are some example team compositions for Luocha in Honkai: Star Rail. Each character is used only once, but it is possible to interchange them based on the content.
5 Luocha + Seele + Bronya + Tingyun
At the game's launch, a team composition consisting of Seele, Bronya, Tingyun, and Bailu was considered one of the most optimal choices for tackling various content. However, with the introduction of Luocha, Bailu can easily be replaced by him, offering a broader elemental weakness coverage with the inclusion of an Imaginary character.
Furthermore, Luocha's sub-DPS potential provides an additional source of damage to the team. It is worth noting that Bronya's Ultimate skill synergizes well with Luocha, primarily due to the ATK buff she grants to all allies, alongside the Crit DMG bonus. In this scenario, Tingyun's role remains focused on buffing Seele for optimal damage output. However, if players find themselves with an abundance of Skill Points, they can even utilize Tingyun's buffs on Luocha. This is particularly beneficial as Luocha can benefit not only from the ATK buff but also from Tingyun's Ultimate skill, which can help activate Luocha's own Ultimate ability in if this becomes a necessity.
4 Luocha + Jing Yuan + Asta + Fire Trailblazer
Another excellent team composition for Luocha involves pairing him with Jing Yuan. Since Jing Yuan heavily relies on Skill Points, it is beneficial to have characters that are easier to manage in terms of Skill Points, such as the Fire Trailblazer and, in certain situations, Asta. Having Asta as an offensive support character benefits both Luocha and Jing Yuan. Asta provides additional ATK buffs and a Speed buff to the entire team.
While the team already includes a healer, the Fire Trailblazer can be useful for players who haven't fully optimized Luocha's build, as it adds an extra layer of defense. Luocha, as a healer, has lower HP and DEF values compared to characters like Bailu and Natasha. Pairing him with a defensive character like the Fire Trailblazer significantly increases his survivability. Additionally, Fire Trailblazer's unique taunt ability can divert strong enemy attacks away from Luocha. Lastly, Asta contributes to the Fire Trailblazer's damage potential through her major trace, which buffs the Fire DMG of the entire team. Overall, this team composition is excellent for tough content as well as simply farming materials since all characters have access to AoE damage abilities.
3 Luocha + Silver Wolf + Welt + Yukong
This team composition incorporates all currently available Imaginary characters, along with Silver Wolf, who possesses the ability to implant an additional elemental weakness on enemies. Consequently, even when facing opponents who are not weak against Imaginary, including Silver Wolf in the team enhances the versatility of this composition and ensures that Imaginary characters always maintain an advantage.
Moreover, the inclusion of Yukong, with her ATK and Crit buffs, along with the collective weakness-breaking capabilities and the substantial number of debuffs that Welt and Silver Wolf can apply to enemies, allows this team to operate effectively without a dedicated main DPS character. It is worth noting that in the future, Silver Wolf can be replaced by an upcoming Imaginary DPS character against enemies who already possess an Imaginary weakness.
2 Luocha + Kafka + Sampo + Hook
Players who are eagerly anticipating acquiring Kafka can also derive benefits from including Luocha in their team, despite Luocha not directly inflicting any DoT effects on enemies. Nevertheless, Luocha's support abilities can still provide more advantages to the team as opposed to Bailu or Natasha.
In this team composition, it is crucial to prioritize characters that synergize with Kafka rather than Luocha, as Kafka greatly benefits from the presence of additional DoT effects. Characters like Sampo and Hook become highly valuable to Kafka due to their ability to inflict Wind Shear and Burn DoT, respectively, in addition to Kafka's own DoT applications. Particularly in content such as Simulated Universe, opting for the Nihility Resonance Path can further enhance the team's consistency in stacking DoT effects, enabling Kafka to inflict significant damage each turn.
1 Luocha + Blade + Luka + Pela
Pairing Luocha and Blade together forms one of the most synergistic teams when it comes to combining an Abundance healer with a main DPS character, as Luocha's healing style aligns perfectly with Blade's requirements. Interestingly, even their Ultimate names, "Death Wish" and "Death Sentence," are in harmony.
Blade, being a character who benefits from lowering his HP to increase his damage output, greatly benefits from having a healer who can passively keep him and other allies alive. Once Blade's HP falls below 50% (which is easily achieved through his Ultimate), Luocha can heal all allies. Luocha's field also ensures that whenever a character attacks, all allies receive healing, which, in the case of this team, happens frequently. This provides consistent passive healing while remaining Skill Point-friendly. It is important for players to note that Blade scales with HP, which means he cannot benefit from most existing Harmony characters' ATK boost abilities. Instead, he gains more advantages from Nihility characters, to increase his damage output. Both Luka and Pela contribute to the team's damage potential through their Ultimates, which respectively inflict increased damage taken and defense reduction on enemies. This allows the team to deal significant damage without relying heavily on additional buffs.
