A new leak from Honkai: Star Rail is teasing the return of a popular boss from the Xianzhou Luofu for Version 2.5's update to the Apocalyptic Shadow game mode. The newest game mode added to the HoYoverse RPG brings a unique challenge to the game, featuring players battling against powered-up versions of classic bosses. The Apocalyptic Shadow's first rotation pits players against multiple playable characters, featuring the boss versions of both Gepard and Argenti as well as in-game boss Cocolia. Now, one of the game mode's next updates is being teased.

Apocalyptic Shadow has already been heavily rumored to see the return of classic bosses from Honkai: Star Rail. While not featured in the game mode's launch update, leaks have teased the appearance of the "Doomsday Beast" boss from the Herta Space Station in the Apocalyptic Shadow. The game mode also grants players a free character as a reward for first-time completion, with clearing Difficult 2 awarding a copy of four-star character Xueyi. Another of Star Rail's most popular bosses is now being teased for a future update to the Apocalyptic Shadow.

Honkai: Star Rail Leaks New Apocalyptic Shadow Boss

A new update shared by prominent Honkai: Star Rail leaker HomDGCat is teasing a new boss for the Apocalyptic Shadow game mode. According to the leak, Honkai: Star Rail's "Phantylia the Undying" will make an appearance as a featured boss during the Version 2.5 rotation of Apocalyptic Shadow. Players first fight Phantylia the Undying during the story of the Xianzhou Luofu, serving as the climax of the story for the China-themed world. Players are also able to re-challenge Phantylia as one of the game's "Echo of War" weekly bosses, granting powerful upgrade materials.

Phantylia the Undying's arrival to the Apocalyptic Shadow comes as the next few updates to Honkai: Star Rail are expected to heavily focus around the Xianzhou Luofu. Previous leaks have revealed that HoYoverse has "several patches" worth of Xianzhou-adjacent characters coming following the conclusion of Penacony's story. The developer has already confirmed two new Xianzhou Luofu characters for Version 2.4, including Jiaoqiu and Yunli alongside a new variant of starter character March 7th. Phantylia the Undying is expected to be added to the Apocalyptic Shadow with Version 2.5, currently rumored to launch on September 4.

Honkai: Star Rail's recent Version 2.3 update brought plenty of exciting new content to the RPG. The patch brought the long-awaited addition of Firefly to the game's roster as its newest five-star character, with Quantum character Jade also releasing later in the update. Version 2.3 also brought two brand-new game modes for players to dive into, with the addition of the Apocalyptic Shadow and the Divergent Universe. With multiple new characters and bosses planned, new adventures in the Xianzhou Luofu look to be on the way soon.
