Fire characters in Honkai: Star Rail have a unique relationship together as they can work well in one team. This is thanks to Asta's passive who can buff Fire DMG on top of the fact that Fire characters follow different Paths, completing the team's Synergy. Hook, for example, effectively applies Burn. Now, use Fire Trailblazer as a tank and Himeko that benefits from all that with extra damage against Burned enemies, and players have a decent Fire team in Honkai: Star Rail. Although, of course, people generally would want to include different Elements in the team to handle various opponents.

Due to their different roles, ranking the Fire characters in Honkai: Star Rail can be quite tough as each of them excels in one job.

4 Hook

While ranked at the bottom of the Fire characters’ tier list, Hook is far from being bad. Hook has an enormous Base HP for a Destruction Path unit in Honkai: Star Rail. It allows her to fulfill her role and be sturdy during battles while she can reliably keep applying DoTs on enemies. Hook’s Skill, Talent, and Technique all have a combination of Burning enemies and dealing more damage to them. Additionally, both her second and fourth Eidolon further improve her Burning ability since her E2 increases Burn duration by 1, and her E4 transforms her into an AoE debuffer.

All that talk about Hook’s ability to trigger Burn isn’t enough to hide the amount of scaling Hook gets on her Ultimate. As a single-target attack, Hook’s Ultimate packs a large amount of damage. Not to mention, Hook’s A4 Trace advances her turn when she uses her Ultimate and enhances her next Skill to deal big AoE damage.

3 Fire Trailblazer

Fire Trailblazer is an extremely useful character in Honkai: Star Rail. As a Preservation unit, they perfectly occupy their role and are able to protect their allies while dealing acceptable damage for a support unit. Unlike most of Genshin Impact’s Traveler’s Elements, the Fire MC in Honkai: Star Rail can greatly benefit from their Skills, Traces, and Eidolons. First, the Fire Trailblazer’s Skill reduces any incoming damage while Taunting all enemies, which is a great defensive effect to take some heat away from their allies. The A2 Trace’s passive further enhance the Skill by also reducing incoming damage on allies by 15%.

Furthermore, the Fire MC casts a small shield on allies with every action they make under the effect of their Talent. While it’s a small amount of shield, it’s still an ongoing and helpful passive that can be further buffed by the Fire Trailblazer’s second Eidolon. In the end, it’s not all defensive utility when it comes to the Fire MC’s kit. Instead, both their Basic ATK and Ultimate scales with their DEF to ensure the Fire Trailblazer can still inflict damage while fulfilling their role.

2 Himeko

Himeko has the highest Base ATK in Honkai: Star Rail. The combination of her high Base ATK with the above-average scaling she gets from her Skill, Talent, and Ultimate grants her an opportunity to inflict some great AoE damage. Himeko also possesses a Talent that allows her to keep attacking all enemies when her allies break enemies’ Toughness, although this ability is not very effective against bosses.

As for her Traces, her A2 passive increases her damage by 20% against Burned enemies, which is helpful considering she gets to DoT enemies with her A6. Himeko’s A4 Trace buff her CRIT Rate by 15% if her HP stayed above 80%. It’s a great buff but requires Himeko to stay shielded and protected to keep it active.

1 Asta

asta in honkai star rail

It's unfair to rank Asta between Fire units when she falls among one of the best characters in Honkai: Star Rail. Players can build Asta with great SPD, which helps her start the battle and play more often to support her team. Asta is also great at breaking enemies' Toughness with her Skill while buffing the team's ATK%. To explain further, her Skill is super effective against single or multiple enemies. On a single enemy, Asta can easily deplete the enemy’s Toughness, while on multiple targets, Asta’s passive Talent allows her to increase her team’s ATK% for every new enemy hit, up to five times. When it comes to her Ultimate, Asta will buff the entire team's SPD by a whopping 36+, which will help them play faster and more frequently.

All that is amazing, but Asta still has more to give as a Support unit in Honkai: Star Rail. First, Asta’s A2 turns her into a reliable damage dealer since her Basic ATK will have an 80% chance to Burn the target for 3 turns. Her A4 Trace is also useful since it allows her to buff her and her team’s Fire damage by 18% without any limitations or restrictions.

Finally, Asta’s Eidolons are perfect for her kit as a support unit. Her E1 will add one more hit to her Skill, which allows her to trigger her Talent more often or be more effective at breaking the enemy's Toughness. Meanwhile, her E2, E4, and E6 all revolve around her Charging stacks to keep a maintained ATK% buff for her entire team.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
