Dr. Ratio joins the playable character roster in Honkai: Star Rail's version 1.6 update and is provided freely to all players as a gesture of appreciation for the game. This being the case, especially for players who do not have access to other Imaginary DPS characters like Dan Heng - Imbibitor Lunae, Dr. Ratio becomes an excellent character to invest in. This involves leveling his talents and equipping him with the appropriate relics and light cones.

Imaginary is a rare element in Honkai: Star Rail's roster but boasts exceptionally strong characters.
Fortunately, players have plenty of options when it comes to selecting light cones, both from free-to-play (F2P) sources and others. Dr. Ratio can effectively utilize most of the 5-star light cones, but there are also viable 4-star options for players to consider, especially if they don't have any higher rarity light cones for him.

"Only Silence Remains" is a well-rounded option for combat, particularly focusing on battles with fewer enemies on the field. Since Hunt characters especially benefit in scenarios where this is the case, this light cone can be quite useful for providing Dr. Ratio with additional Crit Rate and ATK values. These bonuses prove beneficial to him as long as the light cone is used in situations that match the specified condition.

"Return to Darkness," the Nameless Glory Battle Pass light cone option, can work quite well on Dr. Ratio. This is because, even without superimpositions, it provides a good ratio of Crit Rate and potentially removes a buff from an enemy. This aligns well with Dr. Ratio's kit, as he can buff his own Crit Rate and Crit DMG through his ascension traces, allowing him an additional function to support himself and the team. This is particularly useful against tough enemies who can deal significant damage by buffing themselves. Since Dr. Ratio can also perform follow-up attacks in the same turn, he potentially can dispel multiple debuffs on one enemy or on other enemies in certain instances as well.

Given that Dr. Ratio can attack multiple times in a turn thanks to his follow-up attack, Swordplay can stack quickly, even within the same turn. This becomes particularly advantageous in battles against formidable bosses, especially if adds can be ignored or handled by other teammates. On the flip side, if the battle involves numerous weaker enemies that die off relatively quickly, as seen in the current rotation of Pure Fiction, this light cone may not work as consistently.

"In the Night" primarily functions as a stat stick for Dr. Ratio, given his emphasis on follow-up attacks rather than basic attacks or a particular skill. However, it can still work quite well, considering that the passive effects of the light cone are still useful as long as players build Dr. Ratio with some speed or utilize other characters in the team that can further increase his Speed.

"Cruising in the Stellar Sea" stands out as the best free-to-play (F2P) option for Dr. Ratio, as it is easily accessible through Herta's Store in the Simulated Universe. While serving as a solid stat stick on its own, the added conditions, which can be easily achieved in many battles, enhance its effectiveness by further increasing Dr. Ratio's Crit Rate and ATK. With this in mind, players can concentrate on maximizing Crit DMG through his relics, boosting his overall damage potential and facilitating the optimization of his stats.

"Worrisome, Blissful" may be Topaz's signature light cone, but it also works quite well for Dr. Ratio since it is essentially designed to benefit characters with follow-up abilities. With this light cone, players will not only be able to increase Dr. Ratio's Crit and follow-up DMG but also benefit other DPS or sub-DPS-oriented characters by increasing their Crit DMG as well.

Unsurprisingly, being Dr. Ratio's signature light cone, "Baptism of Pure Thought" is an excellent option for him, and it generally has usable effects even for many other characters, as long as the team is focused on debuffing the enemies often. With that being the case, this light cone is worth it for players who want to invest well in Dr. Ratio as one of their primary DPS characters. On the other hand, it is certainly not a must-pull for those who may want to save resources for other characters instead, as they can simply utilize other options like "Cruising in the Stellar Sea" to its full potential, even though his damage output will be slightly less.
