Honkai: Star Rail fans have been requesting for a specific customization feature to be added in the game. Released just last April, Honkai: Star Rail is consistently being updated with new content and gameplay optimization features in every patch. However, this highly-requested feature would let players express their creativity.
In the last few version updates, Honkai: Star Rail added a couple features that many fans had been calling for, such as the in-game Friends Chat and chat stickers that players could send to their friends. With the game still relatively new, HoYoverse often provides fans with updates in its dev blogs, which would detail the upcoming features and fixes that it's implementing for future versions.
A possible Honkai: Star Rail feature that HoYoverse hasn't addressed is a housing system in the game. Players like Reddit user HerrscherOfMagic detailed in a lengthy post why the ability to customize their own space could work in the Astral Express. They suggested that instead of adding decorations to the Parlour Car's interiors, Honkai: Star Rail could add customizable "guest rooms" where companion characters could hang out and give more interaction options with players. In the past, some Honkai: Star Rail players requested for a similar feature, but one that would give the Trailblazer their own room instead of sleeping on the Parlour Car couch.
Many people in the comments agreed with HerrscherOfMagic's suggestion, especially those who've invested time and effort on their housing in Genshin Impact. However, some noted that HoYoverse might have a hard time implementing this because of Honkai: Star Rail's load limit.
While it's true that Honkai: Star Rail isn't as graphics-intensive as Genshin Impact, it might still be possible for HoYoverse to add a housing system of some sort. It could go for the guest room approach, especially since the Astral Express Crew would always be out on missions. Another fun approach they could look at are idle chibi dorms like in Honkai Impact 3rd. Whichever direction it would take, having a housing system in Honkai: Star Rail would definitely allow players to be creative with their decor, especially if there would be versatile customization tools.
As of now, Honkai: Star Rail is still in the middle of Version 1.3's first phase, but HoYoverse has already started hyping up for its next update. Version 1.4 will feature new five-star banner characters Jingliu and Topaz, and four-star Guinaifen, so many players have started saving up Stellar Jades and Star Rail Passes.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for PC and mobile devices with a PS5 version releasing in Q4 2023.
