Honkai: Star Rail has reached a major milestone for its pre-registration, breaking the 3.5 million users mark and guaranteeing that players will receive a free four-star character on launch. The highly-anticipated space RPG from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse opened pre-registrations last week with a variety of milestones including gacha pulls, in-game currency, and more. The debut of pre-registrations also came alongside the developer launching the final closed beta test for the game. Now, pre-registrations for the RPG have hit a major milestone and players are in for a big reward.

With Honkai: Star Rail expected to launch later this year, HoYoverse has given fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the release of the Honkai Impact 3rd spin-off. Previous trailers have shown off the game's wide cast of characters with several bearing close resemblance to popular members of the original game's cast. The game is set to feature several elements setting itself apart from Honkai Impact 3rd, however, including a fully open world to explore and turn-based combat. Now, players will be receiving four-star character Serval for free with the game's launch.

HoYoverse officially revealed Honkai: Star Rail has passed the 3.5 million registration mark on Saturday morning, unlocking the fourth stage of rewards featuring four-star character Serval. Serval is a Lightning element character in the game's "Erudition" path, meaning she will play a heavy AoE damage role in team compositions. No public details have been given about Serval's abilities, but her background reveals she is the sister of another playable character within Honkai: Star Rail, Gepard.

Honkai: Star Rail's newest free character comes as HoYoverse has already promised plenty of rewards for pre-registering for the game with more still to come. Past pre-registrations have earned players three Star Rail Passes for Star Rail's in-game gacha, as well as 50,000 Credits and an exclusive avatar. The completion of the fourth stage leaves only one pre-registration tier left, with HoYoverse offering an impressive 15 Star Rail Passes for Honkai: Star Rail passing 5 million pre-registrations. HoYoverse has yet to confirm an official full release date for Honkai: Star Rail.

The build-up to Honkai: Star Rail's release comes as HoYoverse has increasingly looked to branch out into new games and media with its franchises. Alongside Star Rail, HoYoverse is working on Zenless Zone Zero as another science-fiction action game from the Genshin Impact developer. The studio also revealed last year it would be partnering with anime studio Ufotable to create a Genshin Impact anime. With HoYoverse seeing success across several of its franchises, fans of the developer have plenty to look forward to throughout the coming months.

Honkai: Star Rail is in development for PC and mobile devices.
