Honkai: Star Rail does a great job of using items for lore and world-building. From upgrade materials and Relics to consumable items, Honkai: Star Rail goes the extra mile to make each object feel important, especially whenever the game introduces a new world.

In Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0, the Astral Express Crew journeyed to Penacony, which added a bunch of new story quests and side quests that gave a glimpse of the world's surroundings and lore. These quests stretch across the Reverie Hotel and the Dreamscape's areas, where players can encounter an interesting cast of characters. One side quest in particular requires players to repair a Dream Ticker Supervisor using an Eerie Building Block, an obtainable puzzle building block.

The Eerie Building Block's Connection to Honkai: Star Rail's Penacony

Honkai Star Rail Dream Ticker Supervisor

Known as the Planet of Festivities and the Land of Dreams, Penacony invites guests to live out their dreams and indulge in the luxuries of the Dreamscape. While exploring the world, Honkai: Star Rail players will encounter a lot of clock imagery, including the cartoon character and mascot named Clockie, who's based on Penacony's historical figure known as the Watchmaker. There are also broken Dream Tickers scattered around Penacony, in which players have to solve Clockie puzzles to fix them and get rewards.

In one of the rooms in The Reverie (Dreamscape), the Trailblazer encounters a broken Dream Ticker Supervisor that repeats the same dialogue, which will trigger the Adventure Mission, "Dreams and the Art of Clock Maintenance (I)." Once the Dream Ticker Supervisor comes to its senses, it asks the Trailblazer to fix broken Dream Tickers in the Dreamscape and collect 15 Eerie Building Blocks after completing the Clockie puzzles. These blue boxes contain puzzle blocks that emit an ominous era, which causes the Dream Tickers to malfunction. Whenever the Trailblazer brings back five Eerie Building Blocks, child-like decor appears in the Dream Ticker Supervisor's room. Once all required blocks have been given, the Dream Ticker Supervisor will thank the Trailblazer and disappear, leaving behind a Precious Treasure Chest.

15 Eerie Building Blocks

After accomplishing the Adventure Mission, Honkai: Star Rail players may notice that they still have a few Eerie Building Blocks left in their inventory. Although there's no follow-up quest after fixing the Dream Ticker Supervisor, it's possible that players might have to use these again in a future quest, especially with new areas opening up in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2, where more broken Dream Tickers might appear.

Where Do Eerie Building Blocks Come From?

What's interesting about the Eerie Building Blocks is that their origins are unknown. There's no explanation as to why they exist and why they're damaging Dream Tickers across the Dreamscape. It's quite possible that they were formed because of the anomalies happening in the Dreamscape, which could be affecting the Dream Tickers. Players can also see that something's amiss because Clockie, who's only visible to the Trailblazer, appears to ask for help to fix some anomalies, like the abnormal Emo Dials of Penacony citizens and visitors.

In the most recent story quest in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.1, Gallagher said that The Watchmaker was "the most shameful stain in the history of Penacony" and is the reason why there are many anomalies in the Dreamscape. He also revealed that the original Watchmaker, who is named Mikhail, passed away and that someone took over the position to go against The Family. This is just one of the mysteries that the Trailblazer has to uncover in Penacony, and players can find out more once Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 rolls out this May.
