Honkai: Star Rail’s Version 1.5 update introduced a new area for players on the Xianzhou Luofu: Fyxestroll Garden, along with a lengthy event and story to accompany it. The new event, A Foxian Tale of the Haunted, is filled with exciting new gameplay and puzzles for Trailblazers to explore.
Among the various Investigation Assignments, players have the chance to obtain nine Treasure Chests and a Hidden Achievement through a repeatable puzzle in the event. Here's how to solve those puzzles and earn the achievement, "The Golem: How He Came Into The World."
How to Unlock the Investigation Assignments
Trailblazers can only unlock the Investigation Assignment function after completing the following Honkai: Star Rail Trailblaze Continuance quests:
- Fyxestroll Gathering I
- Twins
After completing both these quests, Trailblazers will gain access to three Investigation Missions:
- Chess Ghost
- Moon Impaler Skiff
- Pathfinder
The Pathfinder puzzles can only be unlocked after completing the Chess Ghost Investigation Assignment. This Investigation Assignment should automatically pop up for players after completing the Twins Mission, and they will be guided to Chess Ghost over in the Exalting Sanctum.Yanqing will also be standing there, and a short cutscene will play before players will be asked to solve the first Pathfinder Puzzle.
Beginning the Pathfinder Sub-Quest
Tutorial Pathfinder Puzzle
The trial puzzle is simple. All players need to do is guide the Ingenium to move:
- Left 2 spaces
- Up 4 spaces
- Right 4 spaces
- Up 1 space
Players should note that they only have to input the actions once. The Ingenium will keep moving until it runs into an obstacle, so it will carry out the length of the distance by itself. There is no need to input the left motion twice, upwards motion four times, and so forth for the rest of the actions; simply input Left, Up, Right, Up.
Battle the Chess Ghost
After completing the puzzle, the Chess Ghost will challenge players to a short battle that they will have to win. Like all battles during this event, players will have to keep an eye out for Fiendfire due to its ability to increase an enemy's stats. Players will have to use character ultimates to get rid of it.
Once the Chess Ghost has been captured, Trailblazers should follow through with the story and place the Heliobus in the Suppression Tower. Players will then create a post on the social media platform regarding the capture of the Chess Ghost, which will then bring the Investigation Assignment to an end.
The Pathfinder sub-quest will immediately unlock, and players can then find the Chess Ghost at the Suppression Tower in Fyxestroll Garden.
Pathfinder Puzzle Solutions
Pathfinder Puzzle #1
The commands for this puzzle are fairly simple. Command the Ingenium to move:
- Up
- Left
- Up
Pathfinder Puzzle #2
After obtaining the Basic Treasure in this previous puzzle, Trailblazers can move onto the next one. The commands for this are:
- Up
- Left
- Up
- Right
- Up
Pathfinder Puzzle #3
The number of commands begins to increase this round, and comes up to a total of six. Guide the Ingenium to the end in the order below:
- Left
- Up
- Right
- Down
- Left
- Up
Pathfinder Puzzle #4
The fourth puzzle barely has any obstacles, and instead includes only one pressure plate. When the Ingenium comes into contact with the pressure plate, it will turn into an obstacle. Trailblazers will have to use the roundabout method below:

Follow the instructions below for smooth sailing through the fifth puzzle:

The seventh puzzle involves two pressure plates that will have to be utilized to reach the destination. Follow these steps in the following order:

Follow this formation to unlock the rewards for the eighth puzzle:

Pathfinder Puzzle #9
This final puzzle can be a little tricky as there will be four pressure plates. Players can just follow the formation below to unlock the rewards:

After completing the final puzzle, players will be awarded with the last chest of the challenge, bringing the total count of chest rewards to nine. In addition to this, once opening the chest, they will be presented with the Hidden Achievement - The Golem: How He Came into the World.
