Honkai Impact 3rd recently released the newest S-Rank battlesuit, the long-awaited Herrscher form of the existing character Seele. The fandom has long expected Seele to eventually be revealed as the Herrscher of Death, though Honkai ended up putting a different spin on it and instead has revealed her to be called the Herrscher of Rebirth. Unlike all of her previous battlesuits, this variant of Seele surprisingly does not have quantum typing, but rather has psychic typing.

The Herrscher of Rebirth is a psychic-type physical battlesuit that actually serves two purposes: she has a special form switch mechanic tied to her ultimate ability, and dependent on her current form can either act as a physical DPS or as a support character. This 2-in-1 nature of HoRB makes her a very worthwhile pull for most players, though it should be kept in mind that physical teams are currently some of the most complicated to build and play, and HoRB's gears and optimal teams (Prometheus and Dreamweaver for support form HoRB, or Prometheus and Herrscher of Sentience for DPS form HoRB) are nearly essential for performing well.

This guide will cover how to build and play HoRB in both forms separately, and what is shared between the two different builds. While this guide will not cover how to use Herrscher of Rebirth in the Elysian Realm game mode specifically, click here for a separate guide on exactly that!

Understanding Herrscher of Rebirth's Kit

Herrscher of Rebirth Victory Screen HI3rd

As previously mentioned, Herrscher of Rebirth can alternate between two different forms. In the Soul Shaper form, Seele is joined by the spirit deer Diana and plays the role of a support unit. Alternatively, in the Life Binder form, Seele is instead joined by the flower spirit Flora and plays the role of an offensive DPS unit. The summon that accompanies Seele is a very easy way for players to be aware of what form she is currently in; remember, if the player sees a deer fighting alongside Seele, they are currently in the Soul Shaper support form!

When looking at Herrscher of Rebirth's skill page, players can select which form will be their default, and having her set in one way or the other will award bonus passives which can be seen in the chart at the end of this section. Regardless of the default, Seele can be swapped to the other form by simply tapping the ultimate button at any time. However, considering that the different forms have variations in their required teams and potentially their build, this is generally not recommended to do.

Honkai Impact 3rd Diana Deer

Regardless of form, there will be a bar at the bottom of the screen (directly above Seele's health) which is the Herrscher Charge bar. Once again, regardless of form, this bar can be filled by performing four consecutive basic attacks. Once this bar is full, the player will hold the attack button to use a combo attack, and immediately follow it by tapping the attack button again to use a joint combo.

Depending on which form the player is currently in, different buffs will be awarded for completing this combo. Soul Shaper (support) form will restore Seele's SP, reduce enemy defense, and make the enemy take increased physical damage after completing this combo. Completing the combo while in Life Binder (DPS) form will also restore Seele's SP and make enemies take increased physical damage, but will not strip the enemy's defense. Regardless of form, this is the standard rotation that Herrscher of Rebirth will perform, with QTEs and when to swap units dependent on which team she is currently in.

Honkai Impact 3rd Herrscher Energy Bar for Herrscher of Rebirth

When it comes to the ultimate ability of the Herrscher of Rebirth, the SP cost of using it and what it does is different depending on the two forms. Tapping it will always result in Seele switching forms, so this should always be avoided!

> Holding the ultimate ability while in Soul Shaper (support) form will leave "Dewy Twilight" on the field, which will render enemies impaired and vulnerable to physical damage, while also enhancing Seele's weapon active ability and her combo attack. Further, while under the effects of "Dewy Twilight," joint combo and joint weapon skills will further strip enemy defense, and the first joint combo used in this state will extend the duration of "Dewy Twilight."

> In Life Binder (DPS) mode, using Seele's ultimate will deal damage and mark enemies, making them take more physical damage (from her specifically) and raising her crit rate against marked enemies.

The effects of "Dewy Twilight" will continue after Seele leaves the field. However, the ultimate's effect when used in Life Binder form will disappear after she's swapped out.

For a quick recap of the two forms and how they differentiate from each other, here is a table showing the effects compared:

Form

'Default' Passive

Combo Effect

Ultimate Effect

Soul Shaper (Support)

HoRB will have a higher max SP, and the team can convert overflow crit rate into crit damage.

HoRB will have her SP restored, and enemies will have their defense reduced and will take additional physical damage.

HoRB ultimate will leave "Dewy Twilight" on the field, rendering enemies impaired and vulnerable to physical damage. HoRB weapon active and combo attack will be enhanced, and joint combo and joint weapon skill will strip additional enemy defense. The first joint combo used in this state will extend the duration of the effect. The effect will not disappear if HoRB is swapped off-field.

Life Binder (DPS)

HoRB will have a higher max HP, and enemies will take additional damage based on her max HP.

HoRB will have her SP restored and enemies will take additional physical damage.

HoRB will deal damage to the enemy and mark them. Marked enemies will take additional physical damage from HoRB, and she will have an increased crit rate against them. This effect will disappear if HoRB is swapped off-field.

Prior to moving on to the sections where weapons and stigmata are discussed, we will quickly touch on pulling duplicates and what they mean for the Herrscher of Rebirth. It is not advised to pull for duplicates unless players have already pulled all of her gear and if they have extra crystals that they are comfortable using. As with all gacha games, remember to spend responsibly if spending any actual money on the Herrscher of Rebirth.

As usual, S1, S2, S3, SS1, SS2, and SS3 are simply raised level caps for Seele's existing skills. That being said, S2 is notable for giving Seele additional ways to gain larger bits of SP, as Seele does struggle with SP regeneration. The biggest gains for the Herrscher of Rebirth will be at SS and SSS, and the exclusive skills unlocked from achieving these ranks via duplicate pulls/fragments can be seen in the table below.

SS

HoRB will unlock the new skill, Resolve That Waves Indecision Goodbye. In Life Binder form, for every additional 0.5s of continuous attack during Joint Weapon Skill, the finishing slash deals 40% ATK of bonus Physical DMG.

SSS

HoRB will unlock the new skill, Overflow That Sunders Ruins. In Soul Shaper form, triggering global Time Fracture restores 15 SP. In Life Binder form, each cast of Ultimate makes it deal an extra 80% ATK of Physical DMG. 3 stacks max.

Herrscher of Rebirth Weapon Guide

Life Harvester's Path: Shared Destiny Honkai Impact 3rd Weapon

As with most Honkai Impact 3rd characters, Herrscher of Rebirth's weapon is extremely important, and it is recommended to get it if at all possible. That being said, this guide will touch upon alternatives in case players' gacha pulls simply do not go in their favor.

It is important to note that, even if players aren't able to attain her weapon, Herrscher of Rebirth's weapon-active ability will remain available regardless of the weapon equipped, unlike earlier Honkai Impact 3rd characters.

Her weapon active ability will cast a joint weapon skill that deals physical damage regardless of form, but, when used in Soul Shaper (support) form, it will also group enemies.

The weapon that players will be pulling for is called the Life Harvester's Song. When equipped, it will cause all team members to recover SP when they exit the field in Herrscher form, as well as make team members deal additional physical damage. Furthermore, HoRB herself will do even further physical damage and enemies will take even more additional physical damage from her when she is in Herrscher form. However, once players get the weapon, it is recommended to convert it to its PRI-ARM variant by grinding the required PRI-ARM materials (Einstein's Torus and SC Metal-H2).

Once converted to its PRI-ARM variant, Life Harvester's Path: Shared Destiny, the weapon will give additional crit rate and make all team ultimate abilities do additional damage upon hitting enemies after a joint attack has hit them. This new effect lasts for 18 seconds and can only be applied once within that duration. In addition to this new passive, the previously mentioned passives will scale with higher percentages with the PRI-ARM variant.

Herrscher of Rebirth is special in that she is always in Herrscher form, 100% of the time, unlike some of the previous Herrscher characters. This means that whenever weapons, stigmata, or Elysian Realm signets mention a buff that is only active in Herrscher form, she will have that buff always active (unless otherwise stated).

Alternative Weapons for Herrscher of Rebirth

In the case that the player is not able to get Life Harvester's Song from the gacha, there are some alternative weapons to consider, though they will all perform considerably less well than HoRB's intended weapon would have. Fortunately for players, these alternative weapons are available for free if they work hard enough at getting them.

Soul Shaper (Support) Form Alternative Weapon

HI3rd Weapon Skadi of Thrymheim

For players who intend to use the Herrscher of Rebirth primarily as a support unit, the alternative weapon that they should seek to get is the Skadi of Thrymheim. This is the PRI-ARM variant of the weapon Skadi Ondurgud, which can be obtained for free in Honkai Impact 3rd's exchange house in exchange for 4,000 weapon resonance (a material earned by salvaging any unused weapons players may have gotten from gacha pulls or elsewhere).

If using this weapon, converting it into the PRI-ARM variant is absolutely required for it to have any benefit for the Herrscher of Rebirth, as the PRI-ARM adds a passive that will restore some of the wielder's SP upon attacking an enemy. This guide previously mentioned that SP regeneration is one aspect where the Herrscher of Rebirth struggles, so players can understand exactly why this weapon would be useful for Seele's support form.

Life Binder (DPS) Form Alternative Weapon

HI3rd Weapon Path to Archeron: Kindred

For players who intend to use the Herrscher of Rebirth primarily as a DPS, they should instead seek out the Path to Archeron: Kindred, which is the PRI-ARM variant of Path to Archeron, a weapon that actually belongs to one of the previous Seele battlesuits: Stygian Nymph. This weapon offers slight healing to the user as well as additional crit damage and physical damage.

Much like Skadi Ondurgud, this weapon can be obtained at no additional crystal cost in exchange for 4,000 weapon resonance (a material earned by salvaging any unused weapons) from the Honkai Impact 3rd exchange house.

Herrscher of Rebirth Stigmata Guide

Much like the case with her weapon, the Herrscher of Rebirth's stigmata are heavily recommended and are important to her kit. That being said, this guide will once again provide players with alternatives that are passable, but which perform slightly (and in some cases, significantly) worse than her intended stigmata. However, before discussing alternative stigmata for the various HoRB forms, let's first go over what the intended stigmata will do for players.

The intended set is known as the "Gracefully Alive" set and features three stigmata that show HoRB Seele looking through various parts of her life. The most essential of these three stigmata is the bottom one, Seele: Herrscher of Rebirth (B), as it adds a new aspect to her kit known as "Life's Pistil state." When HoRB causes a global time fracture, all team members will enter this state, during which they will have increased crit damage. This state can keep being refreshed in order to have 100% up-time. The 2-piece and 3-piece set bonuses further add to this state, but even if a player was to attain Seele: Herrscher of Rebirth (T) and Seele: Herrscher of Rebirth (M), the state would not be attainable with Seele: Herrscher of Rebirth (B). In the table below, players can see the direct details of the various stigmata and their set bonuses.

Stigmata

Effect

Seele: Herrscher of Rebirth (T)

Increases physical damage for HoRB, and when HoRB is in Herrscher form (100% of the time!), all team members deal additional crit DMG.

Seele: Herrscher of Rebirth (M)

Increases physical damage for HoRB, and when one of HoRB summons are present (100% of the time!), HoRB deals even more physical DMG and takes less total DMG.

Seele: Herrscher of Rebirth (B)

Increases HoRB's total DMG, and when she causes global time fracture, all team members enter Life's Pistil state, increasing their crit DMG. Every time HoRB enters or applies Life's Pistil state, her teammates gain an enhancement. This enhancement is consumed the next time HoRB enters or applies Life's Pistil state.

Butterfly Transcending Death (2-piece set bonus)

Increases HoRB crit DMG, and all members gain additional crit rate. Furthermore, when in Life's Pistil state, all team members gain even more additional crit rate.

Shadow Emerging from the Sea (3-piece set bonus)

Team members on the field deal more total DMG when in Life's Pistil state, and their ultimate and burst mode attacks deal even further total DMG on top of that. Enemies also take additional physical damage.

Alternative Stigmata for Herrscher of Rebirth

If players are unable to get all or any of the Gracefully Alive set, there may be feasible alternatives that don't provide too much of a loss. However, most of these alternatives are for existing characters and are only attainable from the gacha, so players will already need to have them or wait until they are rated-up on an event banner. One of the reasons that physical team comps are one of the harder team comps to build in Honkai Impact 3rd is because physical currently lacks any decent, free alternative stigmata.

If the player managed to get two of HoRB's intended stigmata set, the following are viable replacements for the missing stigmata as well as how to attain them.

  • Tesla: Band (T) - Craftable or exchange shop
  • Theresa: Gluttony (T) - Craftable
  • Susannah: Overtime (T) - Event Reward
  • Sirin: Ascendent (T) - Exchange shop (DPS form only)
  • Seele: Chant (T) - Event Reward (DPS form only)
  • Elysia (T) - Craftable (DPS form only)
  • Paganini (M) - Gacha
  • Mei: Beach (M) - Exchange shop
  • Elysia (M) - Craftable (DPS form only)
  • Bastet (M) - Gacha (DPS form only)
  • Elysia (B) - Craftable (DPS form only)
  • Isaac Newton (B) - Exchange shop (DPS form only)

If players were unfortunate in their gacha pulls and didn't manage to get any of the intended set, there are some full-set alternatives covered in the table below with context and how to attain them.

Set

Context

Shattered Sword

This set belongs to the Herrscher of Sentience, and it can be attained from the gacha. This set can be used for both forms, though if Seele is the DPS of your team, you will likely already have Senti in your team utilizing it. This set provides buffs when a character is in Herrscher form, which, as previously discussed here, Herrscher of Rebirth always is.

Sirin: Ascendant

This set belongs to the Herrscher of Void, and like the previous set, it primarily buffs characters who are in Herrscher form. This set can be attained in the exchange shop, and will primarily only benefit DPS form HoRB.

Elysia

This set can be crafted if players devote to the grind, but it will only benefit DPS form HoRB. Furthermore, the 3-piece set bonus will not benefit HoRB at all, so replacing the Elysia (M) stigmata with an alternative could potentially be beneficial if the player has something more suitable.

Alexandra

This set belongs to Dreamweaver. This set can be used on HoRB, but is only attained from the gacha and can only benefit DPS HoRB.

Bronya Zaychik

This set belongs to the Herrscher of Truth, and primarily buffs ice DMG. That being said, it does provide buffs to the full team's total DMG as well, which is why it can be a somewhat viable alternative. However, like Elysia, it is recommended to avoid the Bronya Zaychik (M) stigmata if at all possible, as it does not benefit HoRB or her team, and neither does the 3-piece set bonus. This set is only attained from the gacha.

Marco Polo

This is the set that Honkai Impact 3rd recommends as "economic" when you look at HoRB's in-game references, and it is entirely craftable. However, the set is simply not particularly good and will only provide relatively small bonuses specifically to DPS form HoRB. This is only recommended if you truly have nothing else and as a temporary measure, as Elysia would be more worth players' time to craft.

Ryunosuke Akutagawa

This is the set that Honkai Impact 3rd recommends for "beginners." To put it bluntly, this set is very bad and is truly only here as an "I have literally nothing else that is even remotely useful" option, and replacing it should be an immediate priority. This set can be crafted, though most players will likely already have it as it is rewarded from the story.
