Homeworld 3 offers the players a variety of ships to choose from during their battle, with each fleet having a distinct function from the others. To get the best result out of each fight, the players must effectively utilize the ships they have in their arsenal and counter the enemy ships.

While unlocking the required ships to counter enemies during battle is essential, having a wide range of choices can provide a competitive advantage. Depending on the game mode, players must go through a separate unlocking process for the ships.

How to Unlock More Ships in Homeworld 3

Unlocking more ships in Homeworld 3 depends on the game mode the players are playing. Currently, three main game modes are available for players: campaign, skirmish, and war games.

Unlocking Ships in Campaign

Ships in the Campaign mode of Homeworld 3 will be unlocked as you progress through the missions. Depending on the enemies you will face in each mission, the required ship will be unlocked, and you will have to first research the ship before starting to build it.

Once you have completed the research, the ship will be ready to build in the build menu, which can be accessed by pressing B on your keyboard.

Unlocking Ships in Skirmish

To unlock more ships in the multiplayer game mode, depending on the fleet you choose, you will see a list of all the available ships for that fleet. Along with the name, there will be a research requirement that you will have to complete to unlock that ship.

Once the research requirement of a ship is completed, that ship will be available for research, and once the research is done, you can start building it and use it in battle.

Unlocking Ships in War Games

War Games is Homeworld 3's roguelike game mode, where you can choose between the Hiigaran and Incarnate fleets. To unlock more fleets in the War Games, you have to complete your objectives on time. Each quest will give you additional XP to level up. As you level up, you will unlock more fleets to employ in battle.

How to Build Ships

The Player Researching New Units To Build

Building new ships in Homeworld 3 is a simple procedure. In Campaign and Skirmish mode, the Mothership is used to create new ships; however, in War Game mode, new ships are constructed using a Carrier. To create a ship, access the build menu by clicking B on your keyboard, which will display a list of possible ships for you to build.

Before starting to build, you might have to finish researching some ships by using the research points. Once the research is completed, just click on the name of the ship to start building that unit.
