One gamer has created an impressive woodcarving featuring the Knight from Hollow Knight. This eye-catching creation perfectly transferred the 2D design of the character to 3D, catching the attention of many passionate Hollow Knight fans in the process.

It is not surprising to see gamers select Hollow Knight as the inspiration for artwork. Since being released in 2017, Team Cherry’s Metroidvania game has become well-known for many reasons, including its stunning visuals. Hollow Knight takes place in the depths of a faded kingdom, known as Hallownest, with much of the lore expressed through the design of the game’s characters and world. While many of the characters’ appearances stood out, the Knight has become especially recognizable due to them being the playable character.

Hollow Knight, despite cute appearances, isn't an easy game. These combinations of charms can help players get through it more easily.

In a post on the Gaming subreddit, a fan known as Dittograin shared a picture of a stunning woodcarving they made based on the game. Specifically, the craftsman had carved the Knight, Hollow Knight’s protagonist, out of wood, and the result was stunning. The fan art featured an impressive amount of detail, with Dittograin copying the various design elements of the enigmatic character. From the curved horns at the corners of their head to the cloak flowing down their body, the woodcarving replicated the look of the iconic hero, even including their weapon, a Nail.

This latest art by Dittograin has been well-received by fans of Hollow Knight, with hundreds upvoting the design. In the comment section, the creator revealed some details about making the artwork. For example, they used a variety of wood to complete the carving. According to the Dittograin, the Knight was composed of basswood, walnut, and butternut wood, while the Nail was cherry. In addition, the stand was cottonwood bark, which the creator said gave it a “natural look.” Furthermore, they revealed the carving stood about 6.5 inches tall and took approximately 12 to 14 hours to complete.

This woodcarving comes as fans continue to wait for more news about the highly-anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. While there is still speculation of a late 2023 release, Team Cherry has remained mostly silent about the game, with the last trailer unveiled at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022. Unfortunately, players will have to wait and see if Hollow Knight: Silksong comes out before the end of 2023 or if it creeps into 2024. Regardless, the upcoming game looks to include new characters and environments for players to check out whenever it launches, and talented artists will likely continue to be inspired by the original game in the interim.
