Regardless, with rumors that Silksong's release date is coming soon, anticipation for Team Cherry's long-awaited sequel has never been higher. While details about the game's development remain a mystery, the recent addition of Silksong to the Xbox store and its official Korean rating is undoubtedly fueling the community's eagerness.

As fans anticipate Silksong continuing the story of Hollow Knight in some way, it seems fitting that the next installment also builds on foundations from its predecessor. Hollow Knight: Silksong's development has been an ongoing saga, and as Team Cherry continues to work on the project, its future remains a mystery.

Silksong Can Build Upon Hollow Knight's Strengths

Hornet Deserves a Rival Worthy Of Her Prowess

In Hollow Knight, Hornet is first seen at the entrance to Greenpath. While initially she can't be interacted with, following the princess-protector leads players to the entrance of the Lake of Unn. After defeating her in the first fight, Hornet reappears briefly in Pilgrim's Way, Fountain Square, and the Cast-Off Shell. After a second, more difficult battle, the Knight has opportunities to meet her again in Deepnest, the top of the Abyss, and during the fight against the Hollow Knight inside the Temple of the Black Egg.

As a recurring character in the Knight's journey, Hornet solidified herself as an iconic addition to the first installment. Not only was she mysterious, but she added a level of difficulty to the game by being one of the few characters to get two boss fights. By starting as a rival who eventually becomes an ally, Hornet's lore leading into Silksong is all the more intriguing.

Silksong Has The Opportunity To Do Something Incredibly Humorous

The prospect of familiar faces returning to Silksong holds some intrigue, such as the Knight coming back as Hornet's rival. However, introducing entirely brand new characters, or those with less development in Hollow Knight, could offer a richer opportunity for narrative expansion. For example, a compelling figure who reflects Hornet's strength and determination could keep fans guessing about future encounters.

Following in the original game's footsteps, it could be quite interesting to see this character return in a second boss fight that's more difficult than the first.

While a seemingly unexpected candidate, Zote the Mighty could turn out to be a hilarious rival for Hornet if Team Cherry so desired. While the pompous, egotistical warrior may not be the studio's first choice to play Hornet's counterpart, Zote is the embodiment of brute force. In contrast, Hornet is very reliant on her agility and discipline. As such, not only could Zote's inflated ego and Hornet's stoicism lead to humorous clashes, but the two begrudgingly teaming up at some point could give players a new perspective on Zote's past and motives.
