Hollow Knight: Silksong is quickly becoming one of the most infamous games in recent memory. Having been announced all the way back in February 2019, almost four years ago, Hollow Knight: Silksong is still shrouded in mystery, and fans only have a few trailers to go off. While a lengthy development period is never usually a bad thing, Silksong is starting to lose its allure, and it's about time that Team Cherry ramped up the game's marketing while finally giving fans a release date to look forward to.

Despite being announced almost four years ago, Hollow Knight: Silksong still doesn't have an official release date. The closest thing fans have is speculation and rumors, with its appearance during Xbox's summer showcase seemingly suggesting that it'll appear at some point in early-mid 2023. Team Cherry can't keep this hype up forever, and the developer will need to pull out some big reveals before Silksong eventually launches.

It's Time For Hollow Knight: Silksong to Ramp Up Its Marketing

Hollow Knight: Silksong Hornet Information

When Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced back in February 2019, the confirmation of a sequel alone was enough to get fans of the first game incredibly hyped. One of the best Metroidvanias of all time and widely considered to be one of the greatest Indie games ever made, Hollow Knight reviewed and performed extremely well, and it's only natural that fans would be desperate for a sequel that continues to build on those phenomenal foundations.

Throughout 2019, Team Cherry gave fans consistent updates on Hollow Knight: Silksong, showing a lengthy gameplay sequence, revealing some of the new soundtrack and showcasing some brand-new character concept art. However, that was the last fans saw of Silksong until 2022. Despite no new information releasing for just over two years, fans still went rampant with their speculation, and the insurmountable level of hype carried through the silence. In June 2022, fans finally got a fresh trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong, though it was still missing an official release date.

For a while there, Hollow Knight: Silksong's silence actually gave the game more attention, with every outlet seizing any opportunity to jump on the hype and speculate right alongside the fans. Then, once hype started to die down a little, a new rumor or leak would appear online, getting fans interested again. Any slight leak or Twitter tease would send the fan-base into an uproar all over again, and the cycle would continue. But that cycle can only last so long, and now fans just want to get their hands on Hollow Knight: Silksong.

The gaming industry is in a constant state of war, with every developer and publisher vying for gamers' attention at the same time. Every month sees countless new games release, and gamers can only put their attention in a handful of places. To ensure that Hollow Knight: Silksong still captures that attention, Team Cherry really needs to ramp up its marketing ahead of the game's release. For fans of the Hollow Knight series, Team Cherry needs to keep them onboard by showcasing some new gameplay mechanics and teasing more of the game's story. And for those that still haven't played Hollow Knight, Team Cherry needs to grab their attention with a big marketing push that tells them exactly what the game is, and why it deserves their time. Silksong may not have an official release date yet, but it needs one, and Team Cherry needs to drip-feed new trailers and information throughout the year just as they did in 2019.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming soon to PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
