Set within the illustrious Harry Potter universe, the upcoming game promises to provide the most comprehensive experience of Hogwarts ever seen via the gaming medium.
With many major details of the game already being known to fans, there are numerous theories surrounding potential appearances and plot-lines within Hogwarts Legacy. One major theory that is entirely plausible is the potential appearances of the parents of the nefarious Lord Voldemort.
The Basics of Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is set to be an action adventure role playing game with a diverse open world ripe for exploration. Set primarily within the acclaimed wizarding school of Hogwarts, the story takes place during the 1890s, a relatively unexplored time period within the franchise. Players will be able to experience many facets of Hogwarts life, with comprehensive character customization and the ability to choose a specific Hogwarts house.
The upcoming game will see players deeply engrossed within the lifestyle of a student at Hogwarts, which will lead to a "dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth of the wizarding world." Players will be able to master a variety of spells, upgrade combat and traversal abilities, brew potions, and tame magical beasts as just a fraction of the holistic exploration. Hogwarts Legacy is being developed by Avalanche Software and is being published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
How Hogwarts Legacy's Setting Could Concern Voldemort's Parents
As many will already know, Voldemort is the infamous primary antagonist of the massively popular Harry Potter books and their resultant film adaptations. Being so deeply feared within the wizarding world that even uttering his name is said to bring misfortune, "He Who Must Not Be Named" has been firmly established as one of the most sinister and powerful villains in pop culture history.
Before his insidious transformation into the Dark Lord, Voldemort was a male human wizard named Tom Riddle who attended Hogwarts school from 1938 to 1945. Like many students within Hogwarts, Riddle became aware of his magical lineage through his parents. Voldemort's father was a very wealthy muggle, a term used to describe non-magical humans. His mother, on the other hand, was a pure-blood witch and a direct descendent of Salazar Slytherin, the founder of house Slytherin.
This lineage meant that Voldemort was a half-blood, with many within the wizarding world holding prejudice against anyone who is not of pure magical blood. Voldemort despised his half-blood status, with this fact playing a part in Voldemort murdering his father in 1943. With how prominent of an issue lineage is within the Harry Potter universe, many have speculated that blood status may play a role within Hogwarts Legacy.
With both of Voldemort's parents being born in the very early 1900s, it is entirely possible that they could make an appearance in some small capacity within Hogwarts Legacy, depending on how many years the game spans. Although it is not specifically stated that Voldemort's mother actually attended Hogwarts, her lineage to key members of the school and her level of magical ability makes it possible that she could have been involved with the school in some capacity. If Voldemort's parents were to make an appearance within Hogwarts Legacy, it can be assumed that they would be very young. Nevertheless, with how integral Voldemort is to the franchise, it would be remiss to explore this time period without making some nod or reference to the existence of his parents.
