A Hogwarts Legacy player found an easy workaround for how to get up the stairs quickly in the Hufflepuff common room. Because even magical stairs will not keep a player from exploring every part of their common room in Hogwarts Legacy.

Dedicated fans know that a Hufflepuff is characterized by their modesty, hard-working nature, and patience. But even their patience can be tested when the staircase in the common room doesn't quite work as they hoped it would. Although there's a bit more to this player's situation, and their experience is something likely quite a few gamers have been through while traversing their common rooms in Hogwarts Legacy. But maybe not all have tried to push those exact boundaries.

The reason why the player had to try and figure out how to trick the stairs into compliance is that they chose to have a male character. If in Hogwarts Legacy a character is sorted into Hufflepuff, and they also happen to be a boy, then they'll know getting up the stairs to the girls' floor is near impossible. Once a boy character tries to make their way up, the magical stairs flatten into a slide and the player will find themselves back at the bottom. But there's clearly a design flaw as Callum Taylor demonstrated in his TikTok video. While the stairs do flatten, Callum instructs to then "clip onto the banister," and then wait for the stairs to reappear. The moment they do the player can finish their journey up the stairs, making it onto the girls' dormitory floor.

The hack caused plenty of entertainment to viewers, the video received over 88 thousand likes and got over 600 comments. Some shared that in the Ravenclaw common room, there are knights blocking the girls' side, while others said in Slytherin there are no barriers of any kind. There was a commenter who even characterized Callum's action as more fitting for a Slytherin. But there were also plenty of players who didn't even realize why the stairs acted that way during their playthroughs, just assuming the game locked that area away for story reasons temporarily. What most have agreed on, however, is that they consider the Hufflepuff common room decorations to be one of the nicest which even made some regret their house choice.

There's clearly plenty of fun to be had while playing Hogwarts Legacy, whether it's sanctioned by the game itself or not. Although commenters predicted now that this glitch was revealed, it'll like be fixed with a patch.

Hogwarts Legacy launched February 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, and will release April 4 for PS4 and Xbox One, and July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
