Hogwarts Legacy has many iconic classes from the Harry Potter franchise for players to take, from Divination to Defense Against the Dark Arts. Classes in Hogwarts Legacy are mainly about learning new spells or abilities, like potting plants for combat in Herbology. However, some classes are cut scenes rather than interactive experiences, and several more classes could be fun and rewarding in a potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel.

In Hogwarts Legacy, players begin their studies as a 5th year, so this opens many more doors and classroom locations in the magical curriculum when it comes to classes if players get to return to Hogwarts for a 6th or 7th year. It's also possible that optional or elective studies could have been very different when Hogwarts Legacy is set compared to the roster of the Harry Potter series. However, there are a few known Harry Potter classes that didn't make the cut that could offer players something different and exciting in a potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel. Hopefully, players get to start their journey in Hogwarts as new student, so they don't skip the necessary years of education.

5 Muggle Studies

Muggle Studies is an optional class in the Hogwarts curriculum where students study the lifestyle of Muggles or non-magical folk. Muggle Studies could provide some hilarious Hogwarts Legacy interactions, as players get to poke fun at human behavior, which could cover a whole host of things, albeit restricted to the game's historical setting. One of the few possible visual references to Muggles in the game is the werewolf tapestry, and no Muggles appear elsewhere.

Muggle Studies in the 19th century could also cover some fascinating scientific and technological discoveries at the time, adding more insight into the historical context surrounding the game's setting or even exploring new locations beyond the movies. Offshoot subjects like Muggle Art could also provide comedic moments listening to characters trying to analyze the pieces.

4 Alchemy

In Harry Potter lore, Alchemy is an elective subject restricted to 6th and 7th-year students, so could be the perfect class addition for a potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel. Alchemy in the wizarding world is concerned with the practice of melting precious metals for beneficial properties, like healing, so it could be a way of adding variety to the game's healing items.

However, another interesting use for alchemy could be for upgrading gear or collectibles like Hogwarts Legacy's best-looking wand handles, such as how players use the Loom in the Room of Requirement to imbue gear with traits. Precious metals could possess magical properties for players to extract and add to equipment, making collectibles more purposeful.

3 Apparition

With the Hogwarts Legacy's fast travel mechanic, the game subverts the need for awesome wizarding abilities like an apparition, where a witch or wizard disappears and reappears elsewhere. Players can also perform the Swift spell to quickly move around locations or battles, which is like a limited version of apparating from one side of the battlefield to another.

However, it could be fun to get to learn how to perform the apparition spell in class as potentially one of the coolest abilities, even if its use elsewhere is restricted. It could also open up some silly or dark comedic moments in cases where an apparition goes wrong, known as Splinching.

2 Ancient Studies

Hogwarts Legacy History Of Magic Ancient Egyptian Relics

Ancient magic is the backbone of Hogwarts Legacy's story, and players can perform exciting ancient magic takedowns and cast powerful attacks. After Hogwarts Legacy's ending, it makes sense for the game's story if players get to learn more about ancient magic in Ancient Studies class, one of Hogwarts' extracurricular classes.

Ancient Studies might also be somewhere where players learn more about the wizard Merlin and his array of Merlin Trial puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy. Interestingly, there is a dedicated Egyptian area of Hogwarts castle, with a field guide page to collect by the Sphinx statue. It could be interesting to potentially learn more about how people used magic in earlier civilizations like the Egyptians.

1 Different Defense Against The Dark Arts Classes

In Hogwarts Legacy, players get to take part in Professor Hecat's Defence Against the Dark Arts classes, one of Hogwarts Legacy's best professors. Professor Hecat introduces players to dueling and various spells, and there is also a cut scene of students battling a Boggart. However, it would be great to have more variety of Defense Against the Dark Arts classes in a potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel.

Whether learning to banish a Boggart or conjure a Patronus charm, Defence Against the Dark Arts has the potential to be one of the game's most varied and exciting classes. A possible Hogwarts Legacy sequel could also introduce another Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, as per the tradition of keeping the cursed role shortlived.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Switch version releasing November 14.
