Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Sony had announced a State of Play event solely for Hogwarts Legacy, and the 20-minute-long showcase has just come to an end. It featured tons of exciting gameplay footage from the game that is bound to delight Harry Potter fans.

While Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to release later this year, rumors suggested that the game would get delayed to 2023. Delays are generally met with anger and disappointment, but releasing an unfinished game is often worse. Despite these rumors, Jason Kilar, WarnerMedia CEO, had announced that Hogwarts Legacy was still on track for a 2022 release. Now, The State of Play event has also confirmed this news and given a proper release window for Hogwarts Legacy.

As per the showcase, Hogwarts Legacy is set to release during holiday 2022. Fans will undoubtedly be pleased to hear this news and all the gameplay footage shown during the State of Play showcase looks excellent. Hogwarts Legacy seems to be packed with features and things to do, allowing fans to fully immerse themselves in the world of Harry Potter. Players will be able to attend various classes at Hogwarts and even visit Hogsmeade. The combat sections also look exciting, and it seems like users will have a wide variety of spells to choose from.

Hogwarts Legacy looks to be in fairly good shape, but delays can happen at any time. Almost all AAA titles get hit with a delay in some form, and the gaming industry is feeling the effects of the ongoing pandemic every day. The reception towards Cyberpunk 2077 and last year’s Battlefield 2042 also proves that it’s perhaps always better to delay the game. Regardless, the State of Play event showed the team’s confidence, and fans will probably not be too disappointed if Hogwarts Legacy is indeed delayed to next year.

On a similar note, Forspoken was set to come out in just 2 months on May 24, but Square Enix ultimately decided to delay the game at the last minute. Forspoken will now come out on October 11 on PC and PS5, a little under 5 months from its initial release. Fans can expect other games to also get delayed, but hopefully, the development of Hogwarts Legacy will remain on track, and it comes out later this year.

Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to release during holiday 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
