The PlayStation Plus free trial for Hogwarts Legacy only lets players play for 0.75 hours. Hogwarts Legacy is easily one of 2023's biggest releases. The Harry Potter action-RPG has demolished sales records, earned mostly positive reviews from critics, and has generally been a massive hit for Warner Bros. Even so, there are those who have yet to pick up Hogwarts Legacy for themselves and may want to try the game before they buy it.

Luckily for those individuals, a Hogwarts Legacy free trial is available to PlayStation Plus subscribers who are signed up for the PS Plus Premium tier. PS Plus Premium is the most expensive version of PS Plus, but it gives players access to a massive library of games from nearly every PlayStation console released to date. Another benefit of PS Plus Premium is the ability to access free game trials, though these are certainly not created equal.

The PS Plus Premium free trial for Hogwarts Legacy is only 0.75 hours long, meaning players will barely be able to make any progress in their Hogwarts adventure at all or even really get a feel for if they'll like the game or not. Most players will barely make much progress at all in Hogwarts Legacy in that amount of time considering it encompasses the opening cutscenes, character creation, and basic tutorials.

One could argue that the 0.75 hour trial is not productive because it could produce the opposite of the trial's intended effect. The idea would be for the trial to convince people on the fence to buy the game, but 0.75 hours is barely enough time to get a good look at Hogwarts castle, and players may not be blown away by the gameplay in the game's opening hour. Granted, Hogwarts Legacy's story kicks off with a bang, but even so, that may not be enough to hook potential new customers.

0.75 hours is simply not enough time to really get a grasp for whether one will like Hogwarts Legacy's open world action-RPG gameplay or not. By comparison, other major games offer much longer trials through PS Plus Premium. The critically-acclaimed God of War Ragnarok, for example, gives players a three hour free trial to work with instead. This way players can get through the tutorial sections and get to some proper gameplay before they're kicked out and have to make a decision about whether or not they want to buy the game.
