Hogwarts Legacy is one of the best open-world games of all time and other than offering players the chance to attend the illustrious School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogwarts, its greatest strength lies in all of the interesting locations players can visit.

Within Hogwarts itself, as well as the wizarding village of Hogsmeade and beyond, there is a myriad of magical locations that will pique the interest of players. Some of these locations are callbacks to the books and movies, while others are completely new additions to the lore.

7 Zonko's Joke Shop

Hogwarts Legacy Zonko's Joke Shop

When planning a trip to Hogsmeade, Zonko's Joke Shop is usually at the top of the list for most Hogwarts Students. However, although the joke shop was referenced in the movies, it is only now with Hogwarts Legacy that fans can finally visit Zonko's.

Inside, players will find a mind-boggling range of magical toys and pranks, many of which can be experimented with. The important thing to remember is to not push the button on the top floor, something that the sign very clearly states.

6 Ancient Egyptian Relics

By using Alohomora to unlock the big door within the History of Magic classroom, players will not only find Professor Binns' office but also a vast collection of Ancient Egyptian relics. As the Weasleys discovered on their holiday, Ancient Egypt is full of magic and would be a great location to be explored on screen in the future.

The first thing players will see is a statue of a Sphinx, which itself is a reference to the Sphinx that Harry came across during the final Triwizard Task. The walls however, which seem to have been taken from Egypt, are even more interesting as they show depictions of Ancient Egyptians with wands.

5 The Clock Tower

Hogwarts Legacy Clock Tower

As part of Gladwin Moon's quest, The Caretaker's Lunar Lament, players will briefly get to see the cogs and mechanisms of the immense Clock Tower. After completing the mission, they can return and explore it in all its glory, an experience that is made more beautiful still on a bright day with sun rays penetrating the cogs.

What makes the Clock Tower even more intriguing is that it contains one of the most interesting puzzles in the game, with plenty of loot awaiting those who figure out the solution. The fact that the Hospital Wing and Prefects' Bathroom are also both nearby makes this area of the castle one of the best.

4 Deathday Party Room

While the vast majority of scenes and locations from the first two Harry Potter books were faithfully carried over in the movies, Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday Party sadly was not. Thankfully, after learning the Alohomora spell, players will be able to access the Deathday Party Room by going down into the Slytherin Dungeons.

Inside, they will find a host of ghostly partygoers enjoying the dance floor and the aroma of rotting food. There is even a reference to the Headless Hunt, the organization that Gryffindor's ghost dreams of one day being granted access to.

3 The Trophy Room

Hogwarts Legacy Trophy Room

At the top of the Grand Staircase and on the way to the Headmaster's Office, players will find the Trophy Room, which is full of easter eggs and callbacks to the lore. Hardcore book fans will recall that the Trophy Room features a fair bit in the early books with a midnight duel planned to take place there, and it being the location of Ron's detention, where he had to constantly repolish Tom Riddle's school award after throwing up slugs all over it.

While Riddle's award won't be placed in the Trophy Room for many more decades, players can see the casket which holds the Goblet of Fire, along with an award given to a current Professor.

2 Honeydukes

Hogwarts Legacy Honeydukes

As a wizarding sweet shop in close proximity to the school, Honeydukes is naturally a favorite haunt of Hogwarts students. While players can make their way into Hogsmeade and visit the shop normally, if they talk to Gareth Weasley, they can instead make their way through one of the many secret passages.

Just as Harry will go on to do a century later, players will pop their heads into the Honeydukes cellar and experience the shop in a more magical way. Inside, a world of color and delectable treats await, much of which can be tried out to surprising results.

1 Salazar Slytherin's Scriptorium

Hogwarts Legacy Salazar Slytherin's Scriptorium

While the Chamber of Secrets can't be opened due to the main character not being a Parselmouth, another of Salazar Slytherin's secret rooms can be found, his Scriptorium. This secret study is one of the best additions to the lore from Hogwarts Legacy and the fact that Harry never finds this room adds more depth to the mystery surrounding Hogwarts.

To get inside Salazar Slytherin's Scriptorium, players will need to start the quest "In The Shadow Of The Study" with Sebastian Sallow and Ominis Gaunt, two of the characters with the most intriguing backstories.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming April 4 and a Switch release dropping July 25.
