A disturbing new mod for Hogwarts Legacy gives players a Cedric Diggory "broom" that lets them fly around the game world on the back of a literal skeleton. Modders have wasted absolutely no time with Hogwarts Legacy, with a nice variety of mods readily available for the open world Harry Potter action-RPG, though the Cedric Diggory Broom mod is certainly one of the most bizarre. Please note that spoilers for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Firefollow.
As longtime Harry Potter fans will know, Cedric Diggory was a Hufflepuff student who competed in the Triwizard Tournament during the events of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Diggory was co-winner of the event alongside Harry Potter, but unfortunately, didn't have much time to celebrate. Upon winning the event, Diggory and Harry were transported to an isolated graveyard, where they were confronted by Voldemort and Peter Pettigrew. On Voldemort's orders, Pettigrew then cast Avada Kedavra on Diggory, killing him instantly.
Cedric Diggory's death is one of the most memorable moments in the Harry Potter franchise, and now it's been immortalized in Hogwarts Legacy with this morbid Cedric Diggory Broom mod. With the mod active, players trade their Hogwarts Legacy broom (specifically, the moon trimmer broom) for Cedric Diggory's skeleton. Created by modder TKPoster, the mod's description on Nexus Mods asks if anyone knows how to change the broom summoning sound with Diggory's father yelling "MY BOY," which would make the mod even more twisted, to say the least.
Of course, it's worth pointing out that the mod doesn't exactly gel with the Hogwarts Legacy timeline. Cedric Diggory didn't die until the 1990s, whereas Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the late 1800s. Not only was Cedric Diggory not dead during the events of Hogwarts Legacy, but he wasn't even born yet. Still, the Cedric Diggory Broom mod a funny and morbid way to immortalize one of the most infamous moments in the Harry Potter franchise.
This Cedric Diggory Broom mod isn't the first Hogwarts Legacy mod that lets players swap out their brooms. A similar mod changes the Hogwarts Legacy broom into Shrek, which is just as bizarre as this Cedric Diggory Broom mod, though not nearly as dark.
One of the more ambitious mods in the works for Hogwarts Legacy is looking to add multiplayer to the game, which is easily one of fans' most-requested features. Some would prefer official multiplayer content for Hogwarts Legacy, but it's unclear if that will ever happen. As it stands, Avalanche Software claims that it has no plans to make Hogwarts Legacy DLC and a sequel has yet to be announced, so those wanting multiplayer will have to be satisfied with the mod.
Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming April 4 and a Nintendo Switch port dropping July 25.
