Many Hogwarts Legacy players may be sticking with the more popular houses like Gryffindor and Slytherin, but there is one really good reason to select Hufflepuff: a trip to Azkaban. Shortly after the introductory cut-scene and tutorials, Hogwarts Legacy players are sorted into their house and can begin their adventure at Hogwarts castle proper. For the most part, players will have the same experience in Hogwarts Legacy regardless of which house they select, but there are some key differences.

Hogwarts Legacy has different characters that players can interact with depending on the house they pick, plus there are different common rooms to explore as well. Some quests in Hogwarts Legacy are exclusive to each house, with one of the best exclusive quests only available to Hufflepuff students.

If Hogwarts Legacy players select Hufflepuff as their Hogwarts house, they will get a quest that has them traveling to the infamous magical prison Azkaban with Helen Thistlewood. The trip to Azkaban is a short one, but it gives players the opportunity to see dementors and the Patronus charm in action. Dementors and the Patronus charm are not in Hogwarts Legacy otherwise, which makes this particular Hufflepuff-exclusive quest that much more special.

While the Hufflepuff exclusive quest seems to be the most popular, the quests in the other Houses are interesting as well. For example, the Gryffindor version of the quest has players interacting with the fan favorite ghost Nearly-Headless Nick and meeting the Headless Hunt. This scene is seemingly a throwback to a moment from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that didn't make it to the film adaptation, so it may be especially interesting for hardcore Harry Potter fans.

It's possible that there are even more differences between the Hogwarts houses that have yet to be discovered by fans. Hogwarts Legacy is a massive game after all, giving players the chance to explore a gigantic open world that includes the expansive Hogwarts castle, Hogsmeade village, and the vast surrounding countryside. There are likely many secrets and small details yet to be discovered, so it will be interesting to see what else comes to light about the game as more fans get their hands on it.

Hogwarts Legacy has already been a massive sales success, and it's likely the game will only get bigger from here. Hogwarts Legacy's early access period has been huge, and soon even more fans will get the chance to step into the game's engrossing Harry Potter open world.

Hogwarts Legacy launches February 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, April 4 for PS4 and Xbox One, and July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
