Hogwarts Legacy has revealed its latest addition to the Hogwarts staff team in the form of a new Herbology Professor. The character, who will be making her first franchise appearance in Hogwarts Legacy, has fans excited by some subtle hints found within the short character biography the game's developers posted to Twitter.

Hogwarts Legacy, which is set in the 1800s wizarding world, is an upcoming open-world video game that will allow players to explore Hogwarts long before the events of Harry Potter. Despite being set far in the past, Hogwarts Legacy will include the classic houses and classes from the original book series, though an entirely new cast will be present. Alongside a new Charms Professor at Hogwarts, a character with "a sunny demeanor and flowery language" will be appearing as the school's latest Herbology teacher.

The latest character to be revealed for what is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated games of the year is Mirabel Garlick, a Herbology extraordinaire with a penchant for magical plants. A Hufflepuff during her time as a student, Mirabel now steps into the role of professor and will aim to help the player as they "embark on a dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth of the wizarding world." Within her short character biography, one particular line garnered attention from Hogwarts Legacy hopefuls.

Mirabel's biography states that she is such a beloved teacher that students fear losing her to a more favorable job, though she herself knows nothing could make her give up her post at Hogwarts. The final line of the biography, "So, even if the right witch were to come along, she'd simply have to love Hogwarts as much as Mirabel does," heavily implies that Mirabel is lesbian, exciting some fans who had previously criticized Hogwarts Legacy for lacking representation.

With constant new content being introduced with each new Hogwarts Legacy promotional video, the excitement continues to build as Harry Potter fans count down the days until they're able to meet the rest of the Hogwarts staff team upon the long-awaited release of Hogwarts Legacy in early 2023. The game has already revealed a diverse cast in addition to new and exciting mechanics allowing players to explore the world outside Hogwarts' walls, and future trailers will inevitably grant further insight into the nineteenth-century wizarding world.

Hogwarts Legacy releases February 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is also in development.
