The latest character to be revealed for upcoming title Hogwarts Legacy will be a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Magic. Described as a "charming, gregarious fellow," he will be inextricably tied to one of Hogwarts Legacy's many mysteries.In recent weeks, Hogwarts Legacy has revealed a large amount of its cast through Twitter. Ranging from a Weasley as the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts to brand-new professors across the board, the game has provided prospective players with great insight into who they might come across during their time at Hogwarts. Outside Hogwarts, however, many players are still curious as to who they may encounter during their travels through the open world.One such character has recently been revealed as George Osric, a high-ranking Ministry of Magic official. He is a lifelong friend of Hogwarts Legacy Professor Eleazar Fig and his wife, Miriam, and was enlisted by the latter to help solve a seemingly indecipherable puzzle shortly before her death. With Miriam gone, he now turns to the player in the hopes that they may be able to help him figure out the answers he has long been looking for. Being described in the tweet as being approached by Miriam due to his "uncanny ability to unravel the most enigmatic riddles," it seems that the puzzle in question must be especially difficult in order for him to have to approach the player for assistance. That, or, perhaps, the player themselves may be part of the answer.
In terms of Hogwarts House, Osric is a Hufflepuff, meaning he values justice, loyalty, patience, and hard work. This also likely explains why he remains so adamant about solving the puzzle despite that years seemingly have passed since Miriam first presented him with it. Some eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Osric was seen sitting in a carriage alongside Professor Fig in a previous Hogwarts Legacy gameplay trailer, though a name has now been put to the face.
Though many other characters, such as the Hogwarts Legacy Charms Professor, have been revealed in recent weeks, few have given players a glimpse at the overarching plot of the game. However, it seems that Osric's mysterious puzzle will be a big part of the game, and the key to solving it may lie with the player. Being a member of the Ministry of Magic, many fans have argued that he would have no reason to reach out the player as opposed to a coworker unless they were directly involved in some way.
Hogwarts Legacy launches on February 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, on April 4 for PS4 and Xbox One, and on July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
