Rumor has it that a Director's Cut of Warner Bros' critically acclaimed RPG Hogwart's Legacy could be in the works. It is believed that Rocksteady — the studio behind the Batman: Arkham series and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League — could be partnering with Avalanche Software on the Hogwart's Legacy Director's Cut. Warner Bros. has kept tight-lipped about the undertaking, but judging by the game's popularity, the additional content is almost certain to be a love letter to fans of the Harry Potter franchise.

At the moment, specific details are few and far between, but judging by the common definition of a director's cut, players can expect never-before-seen gameplay, new quests, cosmetics, and maybe even some technical enhancements. For example, the Death Stranding Director's Cut received new graphics options, DualSense support for PlayStation 5 users, new combat abilities, a firing range, a racetrack and Roadster, new cosmetics, and so much more. If Hogwart's Legacy receives even half as many touch-ups, it could drastically improve the game's longevity.

Due to a recent price drop and news of an upcoming update, Hogwarts Legacy has soared back to the top in a recent UK sales chart.

News about the rumored Director's Cut came from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, who wrote a report outlining all of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's shortcomings. Towards the end of the article, it is mentioned how Warner Bros. is allegedly working on a Director's Cut of Hogwart's Legacy. An exact release date has yet to be revealed, but perhaps Summer Game Fest could feature an announcement regarding the future of Hogwart's Legacy.

Hogwart's Legacy Adds New Features With June 6 Update

The RPG from Avalanche Software was the best-selling game of 2023. The player controls a student attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, a whole century prior to the events chronicled in the Harry Potter novel series by J.K. Rowling. Aided by fellow students and professors, the protagonist embarks on a magical journey to uncover an ancient secret. Aside from the rumored Director's Cut, Warner Bros. may have even greenlit a sequel already, if rumors are to be believed.

Hogwart's Legacy launched a new update on June 6 featuring a photo mode and a new feature allowing players to reset their talent tree points from the Field Guide with each talent point costing 200 in-game gold. In addition, the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest and the Felix Felicis potion recipe have been made available to all players as both were previously PlayStation exclusives. The Onyx Hippogriff mount, a pre-order exclusive, will be available to all players as well. This new update also gives players some new cosmetics, particularly the Azkaban coat, a prisoner’s outfit, and taped-up spectacles.
