Hogwarts Legacy has a wide arsenal of spells for players to use to conquer its many challenges, but one wizard got more than they bargained for with what should have been a simple banishing charm. Like most AAA titles, Hogwarts Legacy is no stranger to bugs, and this one counts as one of its most hilarious.

Since its release in February 2023, Hogwarts Legacy has been exceeding expectations on all fronts, reviewing well and selling 12 million copies in its first two weeks, instantly becoming WB Games best-selling launch on Steam. A fleshed-out and fully explorable Hogwarts Castle was a dream come true for many fans, with Hogsmeade and the surrounding Scottish Highlands being the cherry on top. While the game is not perfect - with some players lamenting the performance issues on PC and the lack of agency in the story - Avalanche Software impressed mightily, assuring fans that the Harry Potter brand is in great hands for future titles.

Mico424 took to Reddit to show off the absurd bug encountered while playing Hogwarts Legacy. A lamp post glows softly in the background of a village street at night as Mico424 targets a sack of flour with their wizard's wand, edging closer until one of their feet is standing directly on its burlap corner. Mico424 cast Dipulso on the flour sack, a banishing charm that flings both objects and adversaries away from the player. However, instead of that intended result, Mico424 was flung with the object, sent skirting and spinning along the ground until they smacked into a cobblestone wall.

This is not the first time a hilarious bug from Hogwarts Legacy has made the rounds on the internet. An open world of such scale is bound to have a few discrepancies, but that does not take away from the acclaim and passion that Hogwarts Legacy has garnered from its fans since launch. While there are no plans for additional content for the game, the demand is certainly there, and given the game's success it would not be surprising for Avalanche Software to renege on those plans.

While Hogwarts Legacy continues to sell units - hanging around Steam's Top Sellers chart more than two months after its release - more content featuring hilarious bugs, fan-made art, and feats of skill from the game will keep popping up online. For those who enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy but have moved on to other titles, these bits of content are a fond reminder of the time spent in its wizarding world.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming May 5 and a Switch port dropping July 25.
