What's Up With Ranrok's Goblin Rebellion?

Although players will have a lot of fun exploring Hogwarts castle, making friends with fellow witches and wizards and learning how to harness the power of magic, many dangers also await them. Gamers familiar with the Harry Potter franchise will know this, as even an evening stroll through the Forbidden Forest can be a bloody event. It has been revealed that in Hogwarts Legacy, players will also encounter a Goblin Rebellion. While such rebellions have been discussed in the series before, this may be an opportunity for fans to uncover more about the details of the movement.

Throughout the history of the Wizarding World, Goblins have occasionally risen up and formed a movement to resist the perceived ill-treatment they receive from witches and wizards. It is easy to believe that the Goblins have been mistreated, as wizards and witches tend to look down on other magical species. The rebellion that will be explored in Hogwarts Legacy is led by a Goblin named Ranrok, and it will involve him making an uneasy alliance with a dark wizard named Victor Rookwood. The rebellion is likely to be a complex topic, as while its intentions seem noble on the surface, it appears that dark forces will also be using it for their own ends.

How Will the Houses Be Differentiated

Hogwarts Legacy Houses Dormitories

When students first arrive at Hogwarts, they are divided into one of four houses: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. The allocation of students is decided by the Sorting Hat, which divides students according to their values, thus brave students will typically get sent to Gryffindor, cunning students will find themselves in Slytherin, smart kids go to Ravenclaw, and loyal learners are sent to Hufflepuff. Hogwarts Legacy will also feature the four houses, along with some redesigned house badges. For plot reasons, Harry Potter has typically focused on Gryffindor and Slytherin, but Hogwarts Legacy will give players the chance to explore the other houses. It remains to be seen how Avalanche Software will ensure that the experience of being in the different houses is sufficiently varied, and how the game will encourage competition between the houses.

What Moral Dilemmas Will Players Face?

Hogwarts Legacy Game

The Harry Potter series has always posed moral questions to its readers, asking them to consider the values of friendship, compassion, and equality, and it appears this trend will continue in Hogwarts Legacy. Developers have revealed that players will "encounter missions and scenarios that will challenge their morality and determine what they stand for." This could easily play out through the Goblin Rebellion, which already appears to be a morally ambiguous situation. However, gamers could also find themselves forced to make tough choices during their daily experiences at Hogwarts as they make friends and are forced to decide where their loyalties lie. It would also be interesting to see whether the game allows players to take a dark wizard's path, allowing them to dabble in dark magic and make self-centered choices at every turn.

What Magical Creatures Will Players See?

Part of what makes the Wizarding World enthralling is the magic that makes everything so whimsical. Imagining oneself attending a magical school where the staircases move and pointy hats can sing is a fantasy that is hard to resist. However, the allure of the Harry Potter universe goes beyond the realm of witches and witches, as there is also a cornucopia of magical creatures to discover. Fortunately, many of them will be showing up in Hogwarts Legacy.

Plenty of magical creatures have already been shown off, including dragons, Dementors, mooncalves, and trolls, to name a few. However, as the Fantastic Beasts films illustrated, there are plenty more magical creatures to discover. Hopefully, players will see plenty more during their classes at Hogwarts, and there will be a nice variety of magical creatures to tame and mount.

How Will Companions Work and How Important Will They Be?

The most heartwarming and memorable moments of the Harry Potter series come from the friendships on display. Harry's bond with Ron and Hermione adds a layer of sentimentality to the series, and it appears that Hogwarts Legacy is attempting to recreate this by allowing players to have companions. Developers have revealed that as players strengthen their relationships with their companions, they will learn more about their friend's stories, expand their abilities, and even have them accompany them on their journey. Companions seem useful to have around, but there are still many questions surrounding them, including whether there will be any house-based restrictions and whether Hogwarts Legacy will have romance options. Fortunately, some companions have been revealed already, including a Hufflepuff girl named Poppy Sweeting and a Slytherin boy named Sebastian Sallow.

Hogwarts Legacy has faced delays, and gamers can now expect the game in 2023. While plenty of Harry Potter games have come before, Hogwarts Legacy, with its scale and ambition, could be the most immersive yet. Though there are still several questions surrounding the upcoming game, gamers will not have to wait much longer before these questions are answered.

Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to release on 10 February 2022 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
