The State of Play event for Hogwarts Legacy was divided into 2 sections: a full gameplay reveal trailer followed by some behind-the-scenes footage. It looks like the Hogwarts Legacy trailer is being almost universally praised, and this State of Play has undoubtedly increased the hype surrounding it.

Hogwarts Legacy seems to be a feature-rich game that will allow fans to live the life of a Hogwarts student. Players will be able to attend classes, mix potions, visit Hogsmeade, and take down their enemies using a variety of spells. The spell effects in Hogwarts Legacy look extremely flashy, and the combat animations flow beautifully between moves. Hogwarts Legacy will allow players to fully explore Hogwarts Castle and the surrounding lands, and the State of Play trailer also featured the main character riding a broom.

The video only briefly shows broom flight, but it's enough to get the audience excited about the possibilities. Players can check the flying animations in Hogwarts Legacy at 9:45 in the video, and it’s also shown for a few seconds at 13:02. The trailer recommends learning and mastering broom flight to quickly travel around the world. Flying in video games has always been a tricky affair, and it may prove difficult to make broom flying work as a satisfying and user-friendly means of travel. It seems like there will be some challenges or in-game activities related to broom flight, and hopefully, Avalanche Software will reveal more about this feature in the coming months.

It’s unclear if Quidditch will be a part of Hogwarts Legacy, but the developers probably would have revealed it by now as it can be a big selling point for some players. They may also be saving it as a special surprise, and considering how the game feels like a love letter to Harry Potter, it would be disappointing to not see Quidditch in some form. Avalanche Software might even consider creating a basic version of Quidditch and building upon it in subsequent games.

Judging by everything revealed during the State of Play event, Hogwarts Legacy is turning out to be a dream come true for many Harry Potter fans all around the world. The idea of stepping in the shoes of a Hogwarts student sounds incredibly exciting, and it's perhaps surprising that a game like Hogwarts Legacy did not come out when the franchise was at its peak.

Hogwarts Legacy is currently scheduled to release in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
