6 Confringo

Confringo

Confringo is a long-range fire-based spell that not only deals damage upon impact but also continues to decrease an enemy's health afterward for a few seconds. This is an excellent spell to use when going up against waves of enemies, as it deals damage to multiple foes when cast.

Collisions during the duration of this spell on enemies also result in bursts, dealing more damage to them. Confringo can be unlocked as a part of the main quest "In The Shadow of The Undercroft". Players who like to set things on fire will enjoy using this spell for sure.

4 Petrificus Totalus

Petrificus Totalus

Players that like to go the stealth route are in luck as Hogwarts Legacy also has spells that will suit their play style. In the game, players can cast Disillusionment charm on themselves, making them nearly invisible and harder to detect. This can aid players in taking on groups of enemies silently. If players are successful in sneaking up on an enemy undetected they can follow up with the spell Petrificus Totalus.

This spell is known as the full body curse and will immobilize the enemies making them fall to the ground. Players can unlock Petrificus Totalus in the main story during the quest Secrets of the Restricted Section. This spell is a rather popular one that fans of the Harry Potter franchise will be quite familiar with.

3 Crucio

Crucio

Crucio is one of the three unforgivable curses featured in Hogwarts Legacy that is extremely powerful. Upon casting this curse, the player will launch a powerful red energy beam toward their enemies, who then will be inflicted with intense pain and will continue to take damage over time.

Enemies will also become cursed meaning that they will receive more damage from other spells as well. Crucio can be unlocked by completing Sebastian's side quest, "In the Shadow of the Study". This spell is deadly enough to make quick work of most enemies. Voldemort used this spell multiple times to punish his followers and even used it on Harry.

2 Imperio

Imperio (1)

The second unforgivable curse available in Hogwarts Legacy is called Imperio which players can use in battle to take control of their enemies and pit them against each other. This spell is extremely useful when going up against multiple foes with high health points, as players can simply turn them against each other and watch from the sidelines, or take care of smaller enemies.

While under mind control, the enemies will take less damage to prolong their usefulness to the player. Players can unlock Imperio after completing one of Sebastian's side quests titled, "In The Shadow of Time". In the lore of the franchise the Death Eaters frequently used the curse Imperio to make their victims do their bidding.

1 Avada Kedavra

Avada Kedavra

What would be the best spell to use against a foe? One that would kill them instantly of course. In Hogwarts Legacy, players can get their hands on Avada Kedavra, arguably the most powerful of the three unforgivable curses. Known as the Killing Curse, this spell can instantly kill an enemy but has a long cool-down period.

Fortunately, killing even one strong enemy can easily turn the tide of the battle when faced with multiple strong opponents. This cursed technique can be unlocked by completing one of Sebastian's side quests titled, “In The Shadow of The Relic”. Fans of the franchise will be quite familiar with this deadly curse, as it was the signature spell of Voldemort, which he used to kill many people, including Harry's parents.

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
