For most of Hogwarts Legacy’s duration, players will find themselves exploring Hogwarts Castle which has many secrets to be uncovered. Players can venture beyond the walls of the school and visit the neighboring village of Hogsmeade. In the Harry Potter novels, Hogsmeade is full of surprises, and Harry and his friends can visit the joke shop, chat with the locals, or grab some Butterbeer.

Hogwarts Legacy does a good job of replicating Hogsmeade, and players will have a jolly time exploring the cozy wizarding village. All the expected shops are present, and characters like Sirona Ryan make visits worth it. PlayStation players can also access an exclusive quest in Hogsmeade.

Hogwarts Legacy Makes Hogsmeade Come to Life

Hogsmeade Village

Hogsmeade is a picturesque village that lies adjacent to Hogwarts castle, and players can access it by taking a scenic walk. It is a notable place because it is the only all-wizarding village in Britain. As Harry Potter fans will know, the location houses many interesting establishments, and many of them can be visited in Hogwarts Legacy. When players go to these places, there are many magical objects to interact with, making the world feel like more than just a static backdrop. This, combined with the architecture, helps to make Hogsmeade feel even more immersive.

One of the most interesting businesses players can visit is Zonko’s Joke Shop, where players can interact with various novelty items that produce hilarious effects. Players can also visit Honeydukes, which is a sweet shop that has a secret passage that leads to Hogwarts Castle. Hogsmeade wouldn’t be complete without Butterbeer, hence the Three Broomsticks is present. Though Hogsmeade is usually peaceful, danger can pop up thanks to Victor Rookwood, though with some sharp wand skills and a little magic, things can be put back to normal.

Hogwarts Legacy Is Full of Interesting Characters

The varied folks in Hogsmeade also give players a good reason to visit the village. Usually, Ollivander can be found in Diagon Alley. However, in Hogwarts Legacy, players can find him in Hogsmeade. The perfect wand can be obtained from the wise wizard, and players will use this wand plenty of times throughout the game. When visiting the Three Broomsticks, gamers also meet Sirona. She is the proprietress of the pub, and unlike many, she is not afraid to stand up to Rookwood and his cronies. Sirona is notable, as she is the first transgender character in the Wizarding World. Although some gamers welcome this character, it could be argued that it is an inefficient attempt to draw attention away from some of the controversy that J.K. Rowling has caused.

PlayStation players have extra reason to visit Hogsmeade, as there is an exclusive quest called Minding Your Own Business. This side quest involves shopkeeper Madam Mason, and it will remain a PlayStation exclusive until February 2024. It is worth completing the quest, as players get their own shop in Hogsmeade where they can sell items and gear at fantastic rates.

There is plenty more to do in Hogsmeade, including visiting Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop and interacting with the locals. Hogwarts Legacy offers an amazingly detailed version of the beloved location from the Harry Potter series, and players will easily fall in love with its enchanting atmosphere and charm. When players want a break from the winding corridors of Hogwarts, Hogsmeade is the perfect place to retreat.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. It is scheduled to release on PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, and on Nintendo Switch on July 25.
