A brand new Hitman game has been revealed. The well-received Hitman 3 was just released in January and was published and developed by IO Interactive. This fresh Hitman title is being worked on by Square Enix Montreal for mobile.
Square Enix Montreal is the team behind Hitman GO and Lara Craft GO, tactical puzzle games that started on mobile devices. But this new Hitman mobile game looks like it could be something else entirely.
Hitman Sniper Assassins is the working title for an Android and iOS game that will release later this year. Square Enix Montreal announced the game with a teaser trailer earlier today. The game is being described as an entirely new Hitman experience, one that tells a whole new story with brand new assassins and fresh gameplay features. In fact, the trailer starts out with a narrator talking to Agent 426, not Agent 47 (the usual protagonist of the Hitman universe).
There are plenty of opportunities in where this game could go, both from a narrative perspective and from a gameplay one. In terms of story, Hitman Sniper Assassins could be its own story entirely and could be something detached from any other story from the other Hitman games. Or the narrative could be somehow connected to the Hitman universe that has already been told, and to Agent 47. From a gameplay perspective, the game could be action-oriented, another puzzle take, a strategy game, or something else entirely. Time will tell, but fans should find out more soon about Hitman Sniper Assassins.
Hitman Sniper Assassins will release on iOS and Android sometime in 2021.
