IO Interactive has recently announced a new elusive target for Hitman: World of Assassination called The Drop, which is the first one to appear in almost two years. Some gamers think Hitman is one of the best stealth games ever made, and players will soon get more seasonal content, a pleasant surprise for fans of the franchise.

The new Hitman trilogy, now known as World of Assassination, stood out among stealth titles by offering gamers freedom while they explored large maps and tracked down targets to assassinate. Among the most interesting attractions of the game were Hitman's elusive targets. These special, seasonal missions would only appear for a couple of weeks, and gamers had to undertake them while they were active, or they risked losing access to the content, as well as unique items, such as new cosmetics.

Now, a brand-new elusive target has been revealed by IO Interactive, and it will be part of the company’s commemorations for its 25th anniversary. The character will be named The Drop and will be played by the famous real-world DJ Dimitri Vegas in Hitman: World of Assassination. According to the announcement, the character will be a DJ who turned into a drug lord and will be Agent 47’s next victim. This marks the first time that IO Interactive unveiled a new target since players assassinated Sully Bowden in The Rage, which was originally launched in October 2021.

DJ Dimitri Vegas will be available starting in “Fall 2023,” so it’s hard to pinpoint an exact date when the elusive target will be out. However, IO Interactive will have its 25th anniversary exactly on September 16, which is a good guess for a starting date. Previously, most elusive targets lasted for around two to three weeks, so it’s possible that The Drop will only be available for a similar amount of time. While IO Interactive affirmed that the Hitman franchise would be on a hiatus back in March, the new elusive target is a nice surprise, and it may motivate some people to play World of Assassination again.

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that Hitman players will get a lot of new content soon besides this elusive target. IO Interactive not only has already talked about the hiatus but also announced that it was working on a new game. A new Fantasy RPG will be developed by IO Interactive, marking the first time the company has started a new IP since 2009 when it released Mini Ninjas, and it may represent a stark change of tone in the company’s games.

Hitman: World of Assassination is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
