With Hitman 3 slated to launch later this month, a slew of new coverage has been posted about the game, documenting several of its biggest new features. From the game's PlayStation-exclusive VR mode to its brand-new shortcuts, it's shaping up to be an expansive new entry for the series and a worthy climax to IO Interactive's World of Assassination Trilogy.

Of course, the biggest draw of the third iteration of the Hitman reboot will be its levels and, thanks to details shared through several early previews of the game, it seems one of these new locales will feature a fun, murder-mystery premise. As was shown in a previous trailer, Hitman 3's England mission will take place in a manor where a murder has taken place, with players able to assume the role of the detective tasked with uncovering the true killer.

During the course of the set piece, players will have to look around the location and discover clues, all the while questioning the family members residing at the house for more information surrounding the murder. As with all traditional English murder mysteries, it seems the climax will see Agent 47 forced to present his findings to the suspects, with the player able to utilize the event to accomplish a hit they've been undertaking throughout the mission. In GameSpot's preview, it claims that its this moment where the murder mystery side-plot reaches it peak, allowing the player to falsely accuse other members of the family or even allow the murderer to claim another victim.

It sounds like a wildly inventive and fun slice of Hitman action, allowing the player to assassinate a target in extravagant fashion. Many might recognize the English Manor level after it was showcased in footage debuted by IO Interactive last year, with the teaser highlighting the location's eerie murder focus. With more details, it seems it'll be the standout assassination opportunity of the mission. The locale itself looks like it'll play an excellent backdrop, with large garden areas, lavish rooms, and several NPCs to interact with.

With what looks to be another ambitious level on show, Hitman 3 is shaping up to be a worthy conclusive chapter to IO Interactive's World of Assassination series. It seems the studio could refrain from returning to the IP for quite some time following its release, with it announcing its next project will be an adaptation of the James Bond series titled Project 007.

Hitman 3 is going to release for the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on January 20, 2021.
