Xenoblade Chronicles3 is a goofy game which falls in line with the entire series. It has had its fair share of action-packed and dramatic moments but the characters can also be pretty hilarious. Sometimes the comedy doesn’t come with the story naturally. Fans may infer their jokes into the series via memes.

The same rings true for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, thanks to fans' support. Do all of these memes make sense? No, but that is the beauty of the medium: creativity. Whether these jokes land with you or not, they are here to stay. There will be story spoilers for about the first third of the game.

8 Lelouch Strikes Again

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving Code Geass

Moebius’ eye-controlling technique should look familiar to fans of anime. Code Geass is a classic mech-based series from the 2000s about a young man, Lelouch, inheriting the power to control people with his eye. He can only command a person once so he has to be strategic about how he uses this power.

Mashing up Lelouch with the time Ethel gets controlled in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is too hilarious for words. Lelouch would fit right into this wild world of mechs. monsters, and warring nations.

7 My Flute Will Go On

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving Titanic

The soundtrack to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is just one of the amazing things about this game. It uses the flute a lot, mostly because Noah and Mio send people off to the afterlife with their instruments. The melody is reminiscent of the epic flute solos from “My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, the iconic track from Titanic.

It is funny imagining Noah backing up Celine as she belts out this epic tune of lost love. It’s curious to wonder if Celine knows what video games are or anime for that matter.

6 Tentacles

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving Bayonetta

Most video games that feature Heaven and Hell set up the demons as the villains. The Bayonetta series instead imagined a world where angels were the grotesque monsters. The designs of the Moebius transformations in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 look a lot like some of the angelic creatures in the Bayonetta series.

It’s hard to unsee after looking at this meme about the form Consuls O and P turned into. Mashing up this real line the titular Bayonetta says is comedic gold. Maybe the new sequel will give a shout-out to this game when it launches in October.

5 Bridge Baby

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving Death Stranding

One of the earliest cutscenes in the game shows that the Queen of the Keves nation can use some sort of magic to grow children in tanks. The liquid, or the tanks, have an orange shine to them. The same glow is also used for the Bridge Babies in Death Stranding. So, it’s easy to see how fans would imagine the Queen summoning Bridge Babies to appear before her as well.

As messed up as the narrative is regarding these children, it’s not quite odd enough to have Noah carry around a baby attached to his side. That would be a very different RPG experience.

4 Main Characters Don’t Wear Helmets

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving characters from the game

It’s easy to tell who a main character is in a video game, anime, or whatever if that character shows their face. There are few exceptions like Mando from The Mandalorian or Master Chief in Halo. In the case of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, a random soldier wearing a helmet probably means they are going to die.

Main characters should wear helmets as it doesn’t make sense that they could survive longer on the battlefield without them. How would fans get to see the pretty faces of these anime-like heroes and heroines though? That is seemingly where the dilemma crops up with the developers.

3 Metal Gear?!

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving Metal Gear

Venom Snake would be going wild in the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 as there are “Metal Gears” all over the place. It’s fun to imagine Guernica Vandham acting a bit like Snake as they have similar features from the designs, specifically the model from Metal Gear Solid 5. Guernica wears big goggles and he has a massive scar on his face along with an eyepatch.

Having him yell about Metal Gears in this game, like Sahelanthropus, does not feel that far off. If Konami was in the business of doing more DLC collaborations, it would have been cool to see Noah and the others take on a more anime-like version of Sahelanthropus or any other Metal Gear from the series.

2 Hand It Over

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving Kingdom Hearts

As mentioned earlier, the various Consuls in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 have the ability to control others with their eyes. They imprint images of shadowy black figures over the bodies of Noah and the others, telling them they are enemies. This meme imagines Moebius making Noah look like Sora’s shadow form from Kingdom Hearts.

Getting a Keyblade into this game would also be cool for a DLC collaboration. A good chunk of the original team at Monolith Soft started at Square, so the possibility of them reaching out to do this collaboration isn’t out of the realm of possibilities.

1 The Sending

A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 meme involving Final Fantasy 10

Another Square connection fans have made is that the sending process Noah and Mio perform is reminiscent of how spirits are laid to rest in Final Fantasy 10. Yuna can be seen dancing beside Noah and Mio as they play their flutes for the dead in this meme. Perhaps that’s where the idea was from as someone on the team has probably played Final Fantasy 10.

If only Noah was able to play his flute to summon creatures like Ifrit to the battlefield. That would be killer but being able to fuse into mech-like suits is also cool. Could Yuna take on Noah and Mio’s mech forms in a duel?

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was released on July 29, 2022, and is available on Switch.
