Squanch Games has launched pre-loads for High on Life, confirming a surprisingly large file size. High on Life is just a few days away from its December 13 launch date on PC and Xbox consoles. It's also a Day One release for Xbox Game Pass, which has helped build a lot of excitement for its arrival. Given the anticipation for High on Life, opening up pre-loads on Xbox Game Pass makes perfect sense -- especially given the game's size.High on Life is a comedy shooter from the co-creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland. Roiland's studio, Squanch Games, has left an impact in the industry already with strange and hilarious games. Accounting was released in 2016, an absurd experiment with virtual reality, and most recently Squanch released Trover Saves the Universe. High on Life is the most ambitious project Squanch has worked on yet, but expectations have risen in parallel.RELATED: 2021 Samsung TVs Now Support Xbox Game Pass StreamingThose wanting to jump right into High on Life as soon as it launches can start their pre-loads now. Xbox Game Pass users can jump into the app, search for High on Life, and select the "Pre-Install" option. Take note that High on Life currently requires 45GB of space, with is rather more than many likely expected for a game like High on Life. It's also possible that the size on launch day will be even larger, depending on whether Squanch delivers a day one update.

Technically, a "pre-load" has been available for High on Life for months now. That wasn't the full pre-load, however. It was more of a way for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to flag that they want High on Life to update as soon as it's available. It was only around 300MB, which obviously isn't the full game. This 45GB download should be the full pre-load for High on Life.

Pre-loads for Xbox Game Pass Day One releases have been implemented for some time now. In 2020, Microsoft even enabled the ability to pre-load games that came to Xbox Game Pass via the EA Play partnership. It's just a matter of when those pre-loads eventually become available.

While not an Xbox first-party title, High on Life has become one of the biggest console exclusives for the platform this year. Xbox has had a surprisingly barren release schedule for exclusives, with High on Life left standing tall. With the added attention, there are high expectations for High on Life. Hopefully, it makes the most of the opportunity.

High on Life releases December 13 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
