High on Life turns the concepts of guns on its head as each weapon is fully voiced and has its own distinct personality. These weapons serve as constant companions for the player throughout their bounty-hunting adventure, where they are constantly commenting on their surroundings, interacting with NPCs, and judging everything that the player does. This can lead to some pretty funny moments, but Squanch Games also added an option to limit these talkative characters if it got to be too much.

The talking guns of High on Life really help set the game apart from other shooters on the market, and they are further propped up by the impressive cast of voice actors. Many players will recognize a lot of these voices as most of the actors have had pretty impressive careers over the years. All of them seem to give it their all in this wild game and will keep players coming back to hear the next funny comment that comes out of their mouths.

Justin Roiland Voices Kenny

High on Life Kenny

Justin Roiland voices the first gun that players acquire in High on Life, Kenny. Fans of Rick and Morty will instantly recognize his voice as he uses the same one for Kenny that he does for Morty Smith. He is far more than the voice for a gun, however, as Justin Roiland is also the co-creator of Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites, and the founder of Squanch Games, which created High on Life and Trover Saves The Universe. He also voiced numerous side characters in High on Life, and the game itself is very much a Roiland creation for better or worse.

Betsy Sodaro Voices Sweezy

High on Life Sweezy

Betsy Sodaro lends her voice to the Halo needler-like weapon Sweezy. She has voiced a wide range of characters from a stint in The Powerpuff Girls and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Monsters University and Trolls: TrollTopia. She has also lent her voice to many other animated projects and has also appeared in various live-action sitcoms like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Superstore. Some of her recent roles include Nancy in Ghosts, Alex in American Auto, and Coach Haggerty in Hamster & Gretel. High on Life marks one of the first times she has voiced a character in a video game, and it may not be the last.

J.B. Smoove Voices Gus

High on Life Gus

Actor and comedian J.B. Smoove voices the frog-like shotgun Gus. Many players may instantly recognize his voice from the pretty popular HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm where he plays Larry David's friend Leon Black. He has also lent his voice to Frank the Plant in Harley Quinn, Black Manta in Teen Titans Go!, and Grand Theft Auto 5 as Dr. Ray De Angelo Harris. One of his recent roles has seen him star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man films as Peter Parker's teacher Julius Dell. He has had a long and impressive career, and High on Life is his latest foray into the video game landscape.

Tim Robinson Voices Creature

High on Life Creature

The gun that shoots out creepy tiny blue monsters is voiced by Tim Robinson. He was once a cast member of Saturday Night Live and was eventually moved to the writing team. Since then, he has gone on to create the pretty popular sketch comedy show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson on Netflix. He has also appeared in various animated shows including an episode of Solar Opposites where he played a man named Peter, and he appeared in a couple of films including Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers where he voiced Ugly Sonic.

Michael Cusack Voices Knifey

High on Life Knifey

The final weapon with a high-profile actor is technically not a gun, but Knifey deserves just as much recognition. The stab happy knife is voiced by voice actor and animator Michael Cusack. Cusack has not starred in many projects, but he has played a role in shows like The Cyanide & Happiness Show and Emojitown. He also served as co-creator of Smiling Friends as well as the creator of YOLO: Crystal Fantasy. He tends to sit behind the camera rather than in front of it, and High on Life marks his first major video game appearance as well as his first time playing a very energetic talking knife.

High on Life is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
