It has been some time since Death Stranding released, with many interested in seeing what Hideo Kojima is working on next. While evidence for a Death Stranding sequel seemed promising, recent signs point to a horror game being released by the beloved director - though fans already think this game might not be what it seems.

The leak for the game confirms a few details, but leaves much up to speculation. It will supposedly star Margaret Qualley, who played Mama from Death Stranding, with the game’s title apparently being Overdose. Nothing is known about the game’s mechanics outside the fact that it will apparently let gamers switch between a first and third-person perspective. However, another leak has shown the logo, and the second O seems to be hiding a reference to PT.

Many likely remember Hideo Kojima’s PT, as it served as one of the most unique horror experiences in recent years. Short for Playable Teaser, the game was full of intense scares and unique puzzles. Once solved, it provided players with the reveal trailer for Silent Hills, confirming that big games like Guillermo Del Toro would be assisting with the project. Unfortunately, Kojima’s working relationship with Konami led to the developer leaving and the promising new take on Silent Hill being canceled. As shown by @Edward8920, though, there may be a chance for Kojima to work on Silent Hill again.

In the Overdose logo, three distinct circles can be seen, with the circles in question having a triangle layout. This same group of circles appeared during PT’s gameplay, and it is highly unlikely that Kojima would use them again accidentally. Silent Hill fans will also recognize these circles from one of the series’ logos, something that made them a fun teaser within a teaser during PT. By that logic, they could just as easily be a teaser within Overdose, suggesting that this new game is also a front for a Silent Hill project.

While this could just be another example of Kojima referencing the ill-fated Silent Hills with his new work, it would be an odd move to include the circles within Overdose’s logo if they are not actually building to something. The biggest question would be how Kojima has gotten the chance to work on Silent Hill again, as he would likely never return to working with Konami. Perhaps either Microsoft or Sony, the rumored partners for his next game, could have secured the rights from Konami. For now, this is all just speculation, but with a reveal rumored for Summer Game Fest, answers could be imminent.

Until Hideo Kojima’s horror game releases and fans can confirm that it is not Silent Hill, there will likely be believers in this theory. However, considering the stunts Kojima pulled with Metal Gear Solid 5’s reveal and PT, this is understandable.
