Hideo Kojima is one of the gaming industry’s most recognized names. From recent titles like Death Stranding to the monumental Metal Gear franchise, Kojima’s distinct visual and narrative styles have influenced the gaming landscape in many ways. Kojima’s popularity is so vast that he has even been referenced in video games that are not his own, such as his cameo in CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Between his contributions to video games and their lasting legacy, another thing that Kojima is known for is his love for a wide variety of other media, such as film and music. Film and filmmaking in particular have always been a major influence on Kojima’s work, and he consistently talks about movies he has seen on social media and even puts out lists of the top films he’s seen each year. It's clear that Kojima is a passionate person and seeks to express that passion every chance he gets. Now, Kojima will have another opportunity to share that passion in a new project.

For his first episode, Kojima and his guest Otsuichi, from the YouTube let’s play channel 2Bro, discuss a variety of topics. These range from Kojima’s start with the Metal Gear franchise, his specific aim for each title he creates, as well as details around Death Stranding and what Kojima’s next game will be like. The podcast is presented in Kojima’s native language of Japanese, so English-speaking countries may have trouble tuning in to understand what’s being discussed each episode.

After Kojima cryptically teased a new project at the start of the new year, many speculated that a podcast was something that Kojima could be working on, and it turns out that they were right. It’s exciting to see a creative force like Kojima put this much effort into a small project, as it can give fans more insight into his creative process and what he thinks about the media he loves and consumes.

While rumors continue to spread about what Kojima’s next video game project will be, with some even claiming it’ll be a revival of his Silent Hills project for PS5, it’s nice to see the acclaimed game director take a small break to devote some time to a pet project like this. Perhaps within the next few episodes of Radioverse, fans could receive more details about what he plans to do next.
