Final Fantasy VII Remake is an unprecedented game. Never before has a remake taken this approach and expanded a six hour segment of a prior game into a full-fledged epic RPG. Because of this, the developers managed jam pack the experience with plenty of hidden secrets throughout Midgar.

Many of these are easy to miss if one is focused on the story, but avid, observant fans should have been able to find them. Given the jaw dropping attention to detail present in this game, it makes one wonder how the sequels will tackle the other iconic locations like Wutai, Costa del Sol, Rocket Town, and Cosmo Canyon.

10 Bahamut

Players unlock summons by fighting them in a virtual reality simulation presented by Chadley. The bouts become available as he completes Battle Intel Report. After completing all of these assignments, the final VR battle unlocks. It is series staple Bahamut, who puts up a mean fight.

With no weakness to magic, the bout is a race to stagger it before it uses the devastating Megaflare ability. One of the hardest Battle Intel Reports is maxing out all the magic Materia, though fortunately on Hard mode players earn triple AP.

9 The Different Dresses

The game recreates numerous iconic moments from the original title. The zaniest of these is the cross dressing sequence where Cloud dons a dress in order to infiltrate Don Corneo's hideout with Tifa and Aerith.

Each character has three dresses for this segment, and the one they wear is determined by the player's choices beforehand and the side quests they completed. Tifa's is the easiest to choose since it boils down to one dialogue option, but the other two's garments are a little trickier to control.

8 Jessie's Reaction To The Bike Chase

Every Final Fantasy VII fan fondly remembers the bike chase topping off the party's daring escape from Midgar. The remake puts a motorcycle sequence in the first half of the game.

Cloud devastates Shinra soldiers while Jessie is behind him as a passenger, being her usual flirtatious self. Depending on one's performance in the mini game, Jessie will either be disappointed with Cloud's abilities or enthralled, inspiring her to give him a small kiss on the cheek.

7 Final Fantasy X-2 Easter Egg

Final Fantasy VII Remake Shinra mask

2003's Final Fantasy X-2 famously has a character named Shinra who never reveals his face. In the Shinra Museum's exhibit showcasing President Shinra's life and achievements, a photo on the wall displays the president's class. However, it does not point out who he is in the photo.

More curiously, there is someone with the same mask as Shinra from Final Fantasy X-2. The layout of the land and artistic design is so radically different between Spira and Final Fantasy X-2's world that there is no way they are connected, but the easter egg is cute none the less.

6 Chocobo And Moogle Summon

This one is easy to miss for anyone who doesn't scour every inch of every dungeon in the remake. Players see the Materia behind a fan at the beginning of Chapter Six, but they progress so far before having the opportunity to nab it, most forget about it and move on.

It is behind giant utility fans, but Cloud can only shut off these fans after doing everything else there is to do in the area and then backtracking.

5 AP Up Materia

AP Up Materia disguises itself in the form of a Pedometer Materia outside of Aerith's house in Chapter Fourteen. Players should equip it right away and get to work reaching those five thousand steps.

It should occur naturally while doing the chapter's side quests, but just be sure it is in someone's weapon or else it does not count. After reaching the required number of steps, the useless piece of Materia becomes AP Up, which doubles the amount of AP earned for the Materia to which it is linked.

4 Elemental Materia

This Materia, of which there are only two, gives physical attacks the qualities of the linked magic. It works as a defense against it if it is equipped to an armor.

The first is in Chapter Six after deactivating the sun lamps. It is on the other side of the collapsed passageway, which players should find a solution to if they explore the area thoroughly enough. The second is in Chapter Fourteen and is rewarded to Cloud if he completes every side quest.

3 Bladed Staff

Aerith's Bladed Staff only makes itself known to those who use Asses on the Chapter Eleven boss, Eligor. Its tactical data hints at a special item one can steal from it.

If the player beats the boss without pilfering the Bladed Staff, then they will have to repeat the whole chapter in order to nab this weapon. The game is certainly beatable without it, but completionists will want to obtain this staff.

2 Luck Up Materia

A darts minigame is in the Seventh Heaven bar. It is not solely a diversion, however, since beating the best score nets Cloud the Luck Up Materia.

The game is not too difficult either, and should only take a couple of tries for someone with decent enough timing and control of the analog stick. As far as darts minigames go, Final Fantasy VII Remake has one of the best.

1 Pride And Joy Prototype

This hidden boss only reveals itself to the best of the best. It is the last bout in the Shinra Combat Simulator and up there with Bahamut as one of the hardest fights in the game. Just unlocking it requires doing every other optional fight in the game, including all Corneo Colosseum challenges.

The special match is not only against the super boss, either. The party must first face down a gauntlet of powerful rounds before the final match. Winning nets a trophy, a powerful accessory, and eternal bragging rights.
