Superman by day, 40K painter by night. Henry Cavill recently shared his most recent Warhammer 40K paint project in a video on social media.

Cavill proves how flawlessly he balances his Hollywood hunk image with being a friendly nerd. Warhammer 40K is a great love of Cavill's; he is familiar with the game's rules, committed to his research, chosen his army to play, and bought his miniatures ready to build and paint. Like many new hobbyists, Cavill has learned how to paint Warhammer 40K on social media and online, where communities on TikTok and YouTube thrive with Warhammer advice.

Recently, Cavill took to Instagram to share his first fully painted miniatures, which look incredible. The video shows a well-painted custodes model with incredible gold detail, and the blended dark shadow of the red plume of the helmet looks flawless. However, Cavill does admit that the camera hides imperfections, and has mentioned before how he is open to criticism and advice. Fans praise Cavill in the comments, asking the actor to post videos of him painting the miniatures due to the hilarity of seeing his big hands holding such tiny brushes. The Hollywood hobbyist admits to practicing varying techniques, which could refer to him using an airbrush, which could explain the slight over spray of gold on the custodes model base.

"I have gone through so many different test models, and tried my hand at numerous different paints and techniques, before finally feeling like I was heading in a direction that I've liked," writes DC' favorite Superman in the caption, humble as ever. "It's not amazing, and the camera hides a multitude of sins, but this is a little work in progress of mine. I have a lot to improve upon. Watch this space for more!" Cavill then addresses his fellow Warhammer friends, and for those who care, it will 100% be an Adrasite Spear because of the rule of cool'.

Cavill also credits Adrian Smith for his inspiration in painting his models. Smith is well known for his illustrations for Games Workshop's games and his work in the early days of Warhammer 40K. It's fantastic to see the hobbies of celebrities and get a sneak peek into their lives. Fans cannot wait for Cavill's next Warhammer post - and it will be great to see his army eventually grow to completion piece by piece.
