10 Sagiri, Yuzuriha & Senta vs. Mu Dan
Yamada Asaemon Sagiri was forced to unveil her Tao prowess in this fight against Mu Dan, one of the Lord Tensen because her type of Tao was shown to be Mu Dan’s kryptonite, and she seemed to be the only one who could kill him.
This fight features a lot of teamplay from the trio, in which they were able to kill Mu Dan without casualties the first time, but finishing off his Kishikai form corpse came at the cost of Senta’s life as he sacrificed himself to save Yuzuriha.
9 Zhu Jin vs. Gabimaru
When Gabimaru discovers that Zhu Jin, a Tensen, was using humans in order to turn them into the Elixir of Life, he becomes enraged and challenges Zhu Jin to a battle. Gabimaru managed to overwhelm Zhu Jin and put him under pressure by damaging him as quickly as he could regenerate and even causing him to change between his Yin and Yang forms a few times.
Ultimately, it meant nothing, as Gabimaru could not use Tao. Zhu Jin transformed into his Kishikai form, overwhelmed Gabimaru, and was about to kill him, but fortunately, he escaped with the help of an unsuspecting Mei.
8 Gantetsusai & Fuchi vs. Tao Fa
Gantetsusai and Fuchi take on Tao Fa, who had planned to offer them as sacrifices to Rien after they run into them in the Bochu Jutsu Temple. During the battle, Gantetsusai slowly learns to perceive Tao by observing while Fuchi takes on Tao Fa.
He had to resort to sacrificing an eye in other to fully gain the ability to observe Tao and save Fuchi from Tao Fa’s projectiles. Gantetsusai and Fuchi combine to restrict Tao Fa’s movement and successfully destroy their tanden before they combine with Ju Fa and enter a Kishikai state.
7 Zhu Jin vs. Shion
Shion and Nurugai kept on hunting Zhu Jin down in hopes of avenging their brother Tenza, and they encountered them at the Taisoku Temple. Shion demonstrated impeccable swordsmanship cutting Zhu Jin numerous times and significantly slowing down his regeneration.
The fight was incredible to witness due to the emotions and conviction involved. Shion managed to destroy Zhu Jin’s body and was about to finish him off at the expense of his life before being stopped by Nurugai, leaving Zhu Jin with only a head.
6 Zhu Jin vs. Jikka
Zhu Jin’s head found its way to the Main Temple and finds a way to merge with the Banko despite Rien’s previous warnings. He then uses the power of the Banko to make numerous copies of each member of Lord Tensen to fight.
Jikka engaged in a thrilling battle with Zhu Jin that saw him avoid fatal attacks, decapitate the head of the monstrous creature from range and ultimately deliver the final blow to its tanden. The final blow was delivered when Chobei used his vines to destroy the roots connected to his main body.
5 Chobei vs. Gabimaru
Gabimaru and his team are met by Chobei and Toma on the way to the Horai gate. Chaos ensues as they set their eyes on each other, with Chobei landing the first blow. Gabimaru decides to become “Hollow” as his normal form is unable to deal any lasting damage to Chobei because of his Tao usage and regeneration.
Gabimaru almost incinerates himself and Chobei before Chobei unleashes a transformation that grants him control over vines. The fight was broken up by Mei before it escalated into a situation where there was loss of life.
4 Gabimaru & Yuzuriha vs. Ran
When the elixir retrieval team runs into Ran, a member of Lord Tensen. Gabimaru and Yuzuriha stay behind to fight him while the others progress. The battle showed how quickly Gabimaru adapted to the use of Tao and Ran’s acknowledgment of his talents and his presence as a threat.
Gabimaru resorts to injecting himself with Flower Tao when he loses an arm in order to regenerate. With a show of teamwork and some flashiness, they are able to destroy the tanden of Ran in his Kishikai mode.
3 Gabimaru vs. Shija
Shija was the next shinobi that was chosen to succeed Gabimaru as the best Iwagakure shinobi. Shija had a love-based feeling for Gabimaru that could be considered as obsession and psychotic as they have expressed their desire to die by his hand in battle.
And so, as they were assigned to the Island, their intention had always been to seek out Gabimaru to participate in a death match. A fantastic battle ensued, during which there was a fantastic show of ninjutsu, and it ended with Shija being set ablaze and killed by Gabimaru, finally fulfilling their wish.
2 Shugen vs. Rien
In a bid to escape the island, Rien sets sail on a burning ship, and Yamada Asaemon Shugen tries to stop her. Unfortunately for him, his Tao attribute is water, so his surprise attack on her Tanden inflicted no damage on her.
His ability to alter the nature of his Tao was highlighted in this clash when he imitated an attack that was attributed to Yamada Asaemon Shion. She tried to puncture a hole in his chest with her Tao and almost kills him several times. The fight ends with Rien severing his arm.
1 Gabimaru & Sagiri vs Rien
After losing a lot of her friends to Rien, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri experiences despair and starts to doubt her ability, and reflects on the times she was a non-factor in past battles. She comes to accept who she is, which gives her a Tao boost.
Sagiri restores Gabimaru, who had been ahborified, by achieving Tao Restoration, and they go on to put on a show of coordinated attacks, which results in Sagiri using her Wood Tao and her sword to slash Rien’s tanden.
