A new Helldivers 2 update is on the way, this time with the newly announced Polar Patriots Warband releasing on May 9. This content update brings a plethora of new items and weapons into the fold for use in missions in Helldivers 2, as well as a ton of new customization options.

As is the case with a majority of online-focused multiplayer games, Helldivers 2 features a progression system. Helldivers 2 calls this pass a Warbond, tasking players with earning medals in order to acquire in-game rewards. These rewards range from new weapons to a wide range of helmets, capes, colors, and other customization options. Players can pick and choose what to unlock at their own pace, as long as they have enough medals to purchase them. These Warbonds come in both a free and premium version, with Helldivers 2 recently revealing the game's next pass that players will soon be able to progress through.

Dubbed the Polar Patriots Warbond, this new pass releases May 9 and adds quite a few new items to Helldiver 2's collection of weapons, including the AR-61 Tenderizer assault rifle, the SMG-72 Pummeler SMG, and the PLAS-101 Purifier. The new Warbond also includes several new secondary weapons, like the G-13 Incendiary Impact flame grenade, the gas-operated, semi-automatic P-113 verdict, and Motivational Shocks, which act as a revive for downed Helldivers. Several new pieces of polar-themed armor are also included in this new Warbond like the CW-36 Winter Warrior and Cw-4 Arctic Ranger sets. Capes are one of the most popular customization items in Helldivers 2, with this new Warbond featuring several new versions for players to unlock as well.

Helldivers 2 Announces New Warbond Items

  • AR-61 Tenderizer: High caliber assault rifle with limited magazine size
  • SMG-72 Pummeler: Slower rate of fire than other SMGs but concussive rounds leave enemies dazed
  • PLAS-101 Purifier: The longer players hold the trigger, the bigger the damage.
  • CW-36 Winter Warrior: Allows players to blend into snowy environments with perfect camouflage.
  • CW-22 Kodiak: Tested by patriotic volunteers. Grants Passive Fortified boost
  • CW-4 Arctic Ranger: Utility belt that grants Passive Scout Boost

Also included in the upcoming Polar Patriots Warbond update are several brand-new emotes. Helldivers 2 already features quite a few emotes, some of which can make for hilarious in-game moments. Soon, Helldivers 2 players will be able to "rock out" with the Mime Instrumentation emote, request incoming chat with the Call the Helldivers emote, and search for new voters with the Distribute Ballots emote. Upon release, the new Polar Patriots Warbond will be found on players' Acquisitions panel located inside their Super Destroyer ship, which acts as a central hub for Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2's Polar Patriots Warbond is one of many content updates planned for the future, with developer Arrowhead Studios keeping a close eye on the game's community. Recent updates to Helldivers 2 include giant mechs and new weapons. Players can also use a wide range of items called Stratagems, which can help turn the tide of battle during a mission. While firepower is generally the most important factor in success, cooperation, teamwork, and communication are all core to the Helldivers 2 experience, with the game managing to develop an incredibly dedicated fan base as a result.
