Arrowhead Game Studios releases update 1.000.10 for Helldivers 2, making additional improvements to game performance, log in related issues, as well as additional crash fixes. The latest patch arrives after a tumultuous weekend in which Arrowhead activated a double XP and Requisitions modifier in Helldivers 2 as a way to apologize for the server issues at launch. Unfortunately, the act caused an even bigger bottleneck as more and more players attempted to access the game, which ultimately compounded the problems even more.

The first week for Helldivers 2 has been bitter-sweet for Arrowhead Game Studios. On one hand, it has become immensely popular, reaching concurrent player levels that the first game never came close to. Unfortunately, the success has also come at a cost as the crush of players proved to be too much for the servers to handle, creating bottlenecks, errors, and numerous other issues. Since the game's launch, Arrowhead has been hard at work continuing to spin up new servers, making backend improvements, as well as releasing new updates in the hopes of finally getting things under control. The latest patch has arrived for Helldivers 2 and here is everything players need to know.

One Helldivers 2 player attempts to use the Eagle 500KG bomb stratagem though the powerful airstrike quickly goes hilariously wrong for them.

Taking to social media, the official Helldivers 2 account updated players that the latest patch is now available to download on PC and PlayStation 5. As expected, the update continues to make improvements to the lingering matchmacking and game crashing problems and, according to Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt, this latest patch also makes preperations for increased server load. In fact, the topic of servers has been a hot topic as of late, as Pilestedt even commented on Helldivers 2 server capacity based on a player who was wondering if they should purchase the game and jump in.

In addition to these important fixes, the update also features a few other tweaks, including some gameplay-related quality of life enhancements. Specifically, missions involving players attempting to extracting citizens has had their difficulty tuned, though the patch notes don't specifically indicate in what way. Players attempting to use the Quickplay option in Helldivers 2 will likely notice that an automatic retry feature has been added, so those who are unable to connect to a match no longer have to manually attempt to find another match. The game will now continue to retry until a connection is made.

Even with all of these difficulties, the community has largely stood by Arrowhead as they continue to work on stabilizing the experience. In fact, the popularity of Helldivers 2 has helped give 90s sci-fi movie Starship Troopers a massive popularity boost as well. The connection makes a lot of sense as Helldivers 2 is clearly inspired by the movie, as both showcase an army of humans battling giant insects in space with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor mixed in.
