Aside from the few glitches that the Exosuits in Helldivers 2 suffered from when they were first introduced, the Patriot and Emancipator Exosuit Stratagems have otherwise become welcome additions to the game. Yet while these Stratagems have recently come to be known as some of the top-tier Stratagems, Helldivers 2’s Exosuits still have plenty of room to grow in future updates for the game.

In particular, Helldivers 2’s Exosuits could stand to benefit from experimenting with different weapon types. Exosuits pulling from different weapon combinations could allow them to provide diverse support and offensive roles apart from the current offensive roles that they already fulfill. With a wealth of existing support weapons already in the game and more expected to come in future updates, Helldivers 2 should consider the potential benefits of expanding upon Exosuits or otherwise playing further into some of their strengths and weaknesses.

Helldivers 2's Leaked Illuminate Faction Raises One Big Gameplay Question

The rumored coming of the Illuminate faction into Helldivers 2 introduces a question many players will want to know the answer to.

How Helldivers 2 Could Take Future Exosuits to the Next Level

Not long after Exosuits were introduced to the game, players were already coming up with innovative ways to take this Stratagem to the next level. For example, Redditor Emord_Nillap suggested the idea of Exosuits in Helldivers 2 with modular weapon slots allowing players to select combinations from four different support weapons. While this is admittedly a brilliant idea, there’s no reason that Helldivers 2’s Exosuits should have to be limited to just four different weapon combinations, considering all of the available support weapons that this Stratagem could pull from.

Helldivers 2’s Exosuits Could Benefit from New Weapon Types

A big appeal of the laser and Arc weapons in Helldivers is that they effectively have unlimited ammo. However, this isn’t to say that this is their only strength, considering that weapons like the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and the ARC-3 Arc Thrower can often compete with the damage output of some of the current meta weapons in Helldivers 2. So naturally, Exosuits outfitted with laser or Arc weaponry could be a game-changer, especially considering that their limited ammo reserves are one of the few weaknesses of Helldivers 2’s existing Exosuits.

Also on the topic of ammo efficiency, this opens up the perfect opportunity for Helldivers 2’s Exosuits to finally introduce melee weapons. Ever since the game’s launch, melee weapons in Helldivers 2 have been one of the most requested features from the game’s community, and Exosuits could prove to be the key for this feature to finally come to the game.

Another way that Helldivers 2 can potentially improve upon future Exosuits is to double down on their status effect immunity. Considering that the existing Exosuits are immune to Fire and Gas, outfitting future Exosuits with Fire and/or Gas weaponry arguably sounds like the perfect weapon of mass destruction.

The Exo-49 Emancipator Exosuit and Exo-45 Patriot Exosuit in Helldivers 2 are immune to Gas and Fire status effects. Players are also immune to these damage types while piloting these Exosuits.

Helldivers 2’s Exosuits Could Benefit from Improved Mobility

Apart from ammo efficiency, another weakness of the Exosuits in Helldivers 2 is their mobility, which is why Exosuits are best suited for holding a position. So, considering the leaked vehicle Stratagems for Helldivers 2, making Exosuits more mobile and/or allowing for passenger seating could be a worthwhile change.

Given that Helldivers 2’s arsenal of support weapons will naturally continue to grow as new content updates are released, Helldivers 2’s Exosuits should also continue to grow. Ultimately, the sky is the limit for this Stratagem, and not experimenting with new weapon types and mobility features to play into the Exosuits' strengths and weaknesses would be money left on the table.
