Helldivers 2 is one of the most satisfying cooperative alien shooters to release in recent years, but that does not mean it is perfect. Various technical and gameplay issues are still to be addressed, some of which have been around since launch. That includes a few game-breaking bugs and glitches in Helldivers 2.

You might have already matched with players who can call in dozens of emplacement stratagems at the same time, extract with more Samples than are available in the mission, or who are playing with stratagems that have not been released to the public. The most common and popular glitch, though, is the one that gives you an unlimited supply of grenades in Helldivers 2. It is easy to pull off and surprisingly remains to be fixed.

How to Get Infinite Grenades in Helldivers 2

The unlimited grenade glitch is pretty easy to pull off in Helldivers 2. All you need are some grenades in your inventory and a bit of time and space. Punching stratagem inputs during combat is hard enough, so you should probably fall back before heading into the enemy lines with over a billion grenades. Here is what you do.

• Equip the grenade in your hands by pressing 4 or D-Pad right.
• Open and close the stratagem window once by holding and releasing Ctrl or L1.
• Throw all your grenades until there are none left by pressing Left-Click or R2.
• After throwing the last grenade, quickly open and close the stratagem window multiple times. Basically, mash the stratagem button a few times.
• You will know that the unlimited grenade glitch has been successfully triggered in Helldivers 2 if your character is suddenly holding another grenade in their hands. The player HUD will still show zero grenades in your inventory, but throw a grenade anyway and watch the counter jump to over a billion.

If you are jumping into missions with the intent of bombing enemies with grenades, make sure to equip either the Impact or High Explosive Grenade. Both are the best grenades in Helldivers 2 due to their damage. The latter does more but comes with a 3.5-second fuse time. The Incendiary Grenades are useless because fire damage does not stack. You reset the burn counter every time an enemy is ignited.

How the Unlimited Grenade Glitch Works in Helldivers 2

The infinite grenade glitch has been in for a while now, changing a bit with each patch. In previous versions, for example, Helldivers 2 players needed to equip a Supply Pack stratagem to trigger the glitch. This was then changed so you could do the glitch with any backpack stratagem; after that, it was updated to not need any backpack stratagem at all.

It is believed that the root cause of the glitch lies in the way the stratagem window is coded. While the game keeps on checking how many grenades are left in your inventory, opening the stratagem window just before the last grenade is thrown out somehow prevents the check. This will (and should) be fixed with a future update.
