Ninja Theory, the development studio behind Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, has made an official announcement on when to expect updates on the upcoming sequel to Hellblade, which has been applauded for its representation of mental illness. On Christmas morning, the game studio went to Twitter to give its followers a hint at the future timeline for upcoming dev diaries. After the release of the original game in 2017, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 has been a highly anticipated sequel for many fans of the first Hellblade. With the past few months being a little bit dry for updates on the state of the sequel, Ninja Theory has finally made an official announcement on what fans can expect for the new year regarding the game.RELATED: Ninja Theory Addresses Concerns About AI Voice ActingThe development studio posted to its official Twitter account that fans should expect to see more dev diaries return in the new year. Although there wasn't an exact date given for fans to look forward to, it's at least a fresh piece of news for many excited players to hold on to for the future. Expectations are high when it comes to the sequel. Just last year a video was posted showing the impressive graphics differences between Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 and the original game.

The tweet from Ninja Theory is indeed cryptic, though. Despite the excitement of the announcement, the tweet builds up even more painful anticipation for those who are eager to see what the sequel has in store for them. Updates on the game could be a few weeks from now, or it could potentially be months before any other news is given from the development studio. Waiting for a game can feel agonizing at times, but there is at least the reassurance that Ninja Theory is taking its time in order to give players an incredible gaming experience. From dev diaries to Hellblade 2 concept art, the studio has been teasing some great new visuals.

It has also been confirmed by Ninja Theory that Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 will be using Unreal Engine 5. With the use of one of the greatest engines to date being applied to create the game, it will definitely be exciting to see these upcoming dev diaries. Even in the comparison video posted last year, the differences between the graphics were stark. The original Hellblade was already praised for its incredible facial animations, so seeing such a vast improvement of something that was already applauded by the gaming world promises some very exciting dev diary content. Even though the expected date of these dev diaries are unknown, many fans must be excited to know that new content is on the horizon.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is currently in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
